I maybe it's a combination of all of it. She doesn't have the experience in a courtroom the way Analise does/did. She was always more of a paralegal not a lawyer and now she's got HUGE pressure on her to defend her boss. That's a lot to take on, and it's not like she's handling a divorce, she's handling a murder case.
At any rate, she is doing a horrible job. I'm kind of surprised Analise didn't call her friend (can't remember the character's name, but she's played by Famke something. Sorry, I'm always bad with names). She probably would be doing a better job than Bonnie. Why Analise turned to Bonnie, I'm still trying to figure out.
She's terrible. As that early court seen was progressing, all I could think is that Annalise would be better off with Frank or one of the K4 defending her! Lol

Honestly, I agree. Maybe not frank lol, but one of the K4. Idk what AK was thinking either and if I'm not mistaken @Satai Delenn you're probably referring to Eve. She was a WAY better option.
I don't remember, was she thrown into that position or did she legitimately opt for it? I just get the feeling she tends to get dealt with a bad hand and tries to handle it as best as she can yet fails- and it is not the first time either

I'm not sure it really matters if she chose to represent Analise or was thrown into it. A good lawyer could have been thrown into it and done a much better job. Most likely a better lawyer would have succeeded in getting Analise bail and done a better job of representing their client. I still think the writers should have reconsidered and gotten Famke's character (sorry, I still don't remember the character's name, nor Famke's last name) to be Analise's lawyer. SHE would have done a MUCH BETTER job. Of course, the storyline would have had to go in another direction then, so...

Bonnie had mentioned to her that she was gonna get her a good lawyer or she was looking for the best something like that. Then Annalise told her to represent her. Almost all lawyers get thrown into cases with less time to prepare than Bonnie did. The fact that she knew details of the case and her client personally should have helped tremendously. I think she wanted so badly to impress Annalise that ultimately and ironically it backfired. Prove herself worthy. I think if they would have gotten Eve (Famke) they (the writers) could have totally still rode with it. They could have gone with the prosecutors looking into their history, digging into the past, maybe called into question the cases they've not worked together in per se but found a way to say their relationship somehow affects their credibility. Idk if I make sense
Eve would''ve been interesting but didn't she move to somewhere else to start a new life with some dude? Coulda sworn there was an ep where she told her that. Or was that a flashback to AK's earlier life with Sam?

Yes, you made sense. And yes, they could have made it work. Apparently, they just didn't want to and went with Bonnie instead. I wish they would have gone with Eve.

She did. She finally moved on with a woman named Vanessa. I was so disappointed in Bonnie. I thought she would fight hard for Annalise, but she didn't. Annalise had to save herself. Eve would've had the case thrown out in 2 minutes.
