Discuss Marvel's Iron Fist

Lewis appears to be quite vocal about how close he was to be cast as Danny Rand but I wonder if the reality is different.

Personally, I may have watched this show if a different actor was the lead, white or Asian, doesn't matter

Lewis Tan would have been a better choice for Danny and Lewis is actually half white and althoughthat doesn't really mean anything in our society he is always going to be perceived as being Asian it does make a difference when being cast as Danny. It can be argued that Tan is half white so he is closer to the original comic book character than a full Asian. Also, tbe actress that plays Colleen is half White as well but there is no fanboy outrage that may have happened if Lewis was cast as Danny.

Anyway, it's a shame Lewis was not cast as Danny, he would have made a far better choice than Finn (that's not difficult) and I would have been more interested in this show as a result.

Not sure what you're trying to say. So, you didn't watch the show only because Finn was cast as the lead?

2 reasons I couldn't be bothered to watch it.

The first episode had poor acting, poor editing, poor directing , poor acting and poor CGI.

The second was this Finn guy doesn't have the physique or charisma.

I remember the scene with Danny and the other guy in the car and it was so poorly written and acted I had to laugh and then Finn jumps out and runs off lol and the very next scene is Finn sat a tree with his homeless friend. So did Finn fly to the tree? How did he get there so fast? It took him about 5 seconds to get from the car to the tree lol. Amazing editing.

Well you really didn't give the show a chance. It takes more than one episode to really judge a show. However, after watching the whole run, you're right about Finn. He was truly wrong for the role. Especially when it came to martial arts.

i agree that tan should have been cast as rand, and the fact that he is of mixed heritage would have been a real asset - i would have included that as part of rand's backstory, and stressed how he never truly felt like he belonged, either as a caucasian american or an asian american, and how his sense of disconnection was exacerbated by losing his parents and living in kun-lun for all of his formative years. casting finn, who has the acting ability of a plank, was a terrible mistake.
