Anyone else bummed out that the side characters from the other Defenders seasons are useless and they are there just as window dressing? Except for Colleen Wing...sort of.
All these characters; Karen, Foggy, Claire, Colleen, Misty and Trish are all held up at the police station waiting for whatever BIG THING the Hand has planned to be over. Literally doing nothing...what the hell? None of these characters decided to put their heads together and figure out what the Hand has planned or figure out a way to be helpful to the Heroes? The writing in this show is really lazy. These characters contribute NOTHING to the story?

Misty, Colleen, and Claire all help with the BIG THING at the end, and even took out one of the Hand leaders. I'm not sure what Karen and Foggy could do. I do kind of wish that they got Trish to help out, but it's out of her element at the moment (since she's not Hellcat yet).

Good points. We get Stick and Colleen, but some side action of a lawyer, reporter, and NYPD officer investigating Midland Circle, the architect, and the earthquake could have been solid B-story material.

I agree. They all help in tiny ways. But I feel like they could have been way more helpful if the writers had of written their parts a bit better.

For the most part I think they all stuck to character. Karen and Foggy are not fighters it makes total sense they remained at the police station. You have to remember by the end of DD season 2 they could not even be apart of Matt's life because of his lies flaky-ness and dangerous life style they did not want him to continue, but now we expect them out of no where to be apart of the team? I think it was a huge step for Foggy to even bring Matt his Daredevil suit.
Misty, was doing her job and was there when she was needed lets give her a hand. This story was about The Defenders side characters cant be everywhere
Colleen and Claire were there when it mattered and it made perfect sense for these 2 to be part of the final battle
But really what do we expect this group of people to do they know nothing of the Hand have never heard of K'un L'un or anything else and the only people who could fight did.

Agree with Innovator's comment about the supporting characters. To be honest, out of all the supporting characters, I expected Karen and Fogg not to do much of anything as they have not been exactly supportive of Matt's life as Daredevil. They even try to discourage him from being Daredevil, whereas you have Colleen backing up Danny, Claire and Misty supporting Luke being a hero for Harlem, and Trish and Malcolm encouraging Jessica to be the heroine saving people's lives. I do not see as much level of support from Karen and Fogg, so it was better for this series not to have them around much.
Also, given that this series only had 8 episodes, I thought it didn't have much room to give enough focus for all 4 characters, and the old and new villains included in the story.

OP: Me tooo!! Although I also think (given that they only had 8 episodes) they did pretty well not to 'overload' the story with all the supporting characters.
I was bummed out that Trish didn't get to use even a little bit of her Krav Maga training and maybe hint at Hellcat coming up in JJ2 (I really really want this to come up soon, maybe I need better patience)
Claire and Misty got a wee bit of spotlight on at the end - it was totally appropriate that Misty (FINALLY) lost her arm - and that Claire was there to help keep her from bleeding out (and the new photos of Misty with her bionic arm for LC2 have me so HYPED)
It was pretty cool that Colleen got some talk-time with Misty (and I hope this friendship is explored more) and she got to kick her old sensei's ass a bit (personally, I thought she was the highlight of Iron Fist)
Karen still comes across to me as a bit of a whinger (IMO). And she spent most of her time in the cell not making any friends, even though I felt like Trish wanted to (?) and writing a story that she never bothered publishing in any form. WHAT? There wasn't ANY PART of the story you couldn't have reported on without Matt being outed? Not even a little story?
Foggy got out of his own head a bit - which was great - and his delivering the suit to Matt is sure to add a bit of pathos to the future story, especially as he'll probably keep blaming himself for Matt's 'death'.
And Malcolm, sweet Malcolm. So helpful and sweet. God bless him. Honestly.
But sweet Christmas Trish - bust out that Krav Maga please!! ;)
** I think there is an element of 'we don't know what to do with all these people so we'll stick them in the Police Station/aka a box' to their storyline.
One thing that really weirded me out though: where did all the rest of the NINJAS go??? I mean, the Hand is meant to be MASSIVE. And there have been some excellent scenes (especially in Daredevil) of ninjas appearing on rooftops and rappelling down buildings in big numbers - and then we get a handful of "Big Fights" where there are only a couple of people against the Defenders?? I mean, specially-super people (Gao is a badass) but still - where's their army at??? At the very least, an army of Ninjas attacking the Police Station might've given the sidekicks some drama for a bit - and added some more tension with the whole "we're trying to protect our loved ones, while also going after the bad-guys"dynamic of the good-guys.
