Late last year, multicultural TV station, KIKU announced that due to restrictions on Olympics films, the current NHK Taiga drama about "Japan and The Olympics" wouldn't be telecast. The 1983 TV drama, "Oshin," would be broadcast, instead in a very different form. Due to the large number of 15 minute episodes, two "three-in-one" episodes would be broadcast each week, starting after the usual New Year specials. I barely remember the show, since I didn't watch it every week day in 1983. However, this "three handed game" moves a bit quicker than the original, and fits three times the Angst and Skulduggery of the original. So far, it's 1916, and Oshin is working at a Tokyo traditional hairdresser after fleeing an attempt to farm her out to a sketchy restaurant, after the death of her elder sister.
