I would think that many women would love to ride side-saddle. It is the classier way of riding and a female paying for an immersive historical experience would not want to be robbed of such a cool experience. In terms of the black thing, if we are assuming a realistic future world, there probably wouldn't be many black customers able to afford this thing while there would be a ridiculous amount of Asians so I think it more credible the park would cater to the sensibilities of Asians more so than blacks.

Well, we are told very little of the future except for what we can guess from the characters. We see several black guests in the pilot and no Asians, whatever that implies. As for side-saddles, I don't really know that much about horseback riding and thought modern women would find it awkward.

Modern women don't know how to ride horses at all. The two pommel sidesaddle, which made riding sidesaddle no more challenging that riding astride, was introduced early in 19th century and would have been consistent with Westworld's late 19th century theme. An experienced horse rider who had never ridden side saddle before might indeed find it awkward, but for the 99.9% of guests that would have to be taught how to ride from scratch, it wouldn't make any difference.

There are Asians, obviously guests, in the background of many scenes. Westworld is a playground for guests, not a history lesson.

The proportions don't seem like a very realistic future demographic though. Asians and Whites are going to be the two main groups that would be able to afford something like this, and in the future we'd expect a massive increase in the number of Asian tourists with money. Bladerunner is about the only "futuristic" show I can think of that explored this likely reality. Westworld seems like it is more geared towards satisfying the prejudices of Manhattan Film Critics than it is in building a compelling and believable future world.

On the other hand, one recent critic revisiting Blade Runner, remarked "why so many Asians and so few Hispanics?" He attributed it to the 1980s fascination with Japanese economic power, which was at its peak then.

Asians are the largest growing demographic in LA County by far. They will have largely displaced Mexicans by the time we have flying cars.

Well, the world as we know it will be completely different in about hundred years because projections say Muslims will be the majority then. Only by some per cent to Christians, but the impact and influence of this cult will grow steadily. So chances are, there will be no entertaining Westworld. The real Disneyland will shut down anyway. It will be a future where so called fundamentalists of all religions and beliefs will meet happily. This happens slowly, so your granddaughters and grandsons will be totally used to it and not a bit shocked. So much for 'futuristic'.

I wouldn't take demographic projections too seriously, particularly if they're politically motivated. I read that one projection said "whites" would be a smaller part of the population -- but they got that result by defining Hispanics as "non-white" ! And I thought "cults" were by definition small. Once it's a majority, it's not a cult anymore.

I'm very sick of paranoid talk about Muslims. White supremacists are a bigger threat to the country. After all, they tried to overthrow the government in the 1860s.

There's a problem with the alarmist "X other people are going to take over", because it only takes a single point of data...birth rate. I've read the black people were going to "take over" in 1975. Most of those studies do not consider higher infant mortality rates, in fact, high mortality rates in general, lower life expectancy in general, and higher incarceration rates in general. Some could posit that Mormons would "take over" because of their high birth rate, but having larger families, means less of those children are likely to be Mormon; in fact, there's a study that if you have 3 or more brothers in a family, the chance of one of those brothers being gay goes up substantially...google it if you don't believe me.

Yes I deliberately made this for simplification, sorry it wasn't meant as offence or such. We can't see very far. The more data we gather the more foggy future seems to appear. There are a million things that might happen we have no idea of.

Like a hundred years ago in Central Europe people died from starvation. In Science literature and newspaper brilliant minds of the time saw no way to feed so many people on earth, ever. Then came the dawn of artificial fertilizers and mechanization.Now it's 2017 and for the first time in human history there are more people dying from (the results of) supernutrition than from hunger --while we throw away about 50 per cent of all foods produced.

I bought my first acoustic coupler back in '85. And we were totally convinced this is ultimate advanced tech. "War Games", "Demon Seed", supercomputers, even worldwide connected supercomputers, "Colossus" but nobody knew there will be WWW only five years later. And then the internet.

My parents once told me that I was an accident. OCP for women were available for a decade or so but it was new stuff for women and, well, sometimes it went not as intented...just hinting at the millions and millions of babies who are not born because of this invention. But doesn't that mean the chances for the one human genius who might find cure for cancer, dementia or pieces of popcorn getting stuck under your gums, are somewhat lower?

What I read was there were traveling roadshows that would bring music from Opera and Europe to the West. Carmen is a very catchy tune.

I noticed that WestWorld is "Park 1" upon rewatching. They do show "Samurai World". How do you know more Asian guests aren't at SW or the other existing parks?
