Extra Details: Can someone please delete episode 37 (called "The Christmas Special: "The Gingerbread Affair"") from "Season I":

This episode is a special and does not belong to "Season I"! I just created a season called "Specials" and added this Christmas Special to it:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/65353-carmilla/season/0

Both IMDb and tvdb also put this special at the end of "Season I" - but that's not correct. Here are a few reasons why:

1.) You can watch the whole series on Youtube -> for every season there's a playlist -> the playlist of "Season I" consists of 36 episodes without the Christmas Special:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4QzRfvkJZ4&list=PLbvYWjKFvS5rX2yv-k5AJ8oxPoZ9zHcpe

2.) Episode 36, which was uploaded on YouTube on December 2, 2014, contains a full list of credits for the cast/crew of "Season I" (the credits start at 4:03 min):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7zSy5zjHLU

The Christmas Special aired 3 weeks later on December 24, 2014, and doesn't contain any credits at all. But on January 13th, 2015, they uploaded a BTS called "On The Set of the Christmas Special" on the same channel with the cast credits and a few of the crew credits:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M520HByB1Aw

Comparing episode 36 and the Christmas Special, we have:

  • a slightly different cast,
  • a slightly different crew,
  • a completely different set,
  • a completely different camera work.

Also, if I remember correctly, the Christmas Special was shot weeks/months later than "Season I" because of the success of the show.

3.) Besides YouTube, you can also watch the series (except for "Season Zero") on fullscreen -> 108 episodes, 3 seasons á 36 episodes -> "Season I" does not contain the "Christmas Special":

https://www.fullscreen.com/series/carmilla?section=episodes

4.) On their official website, the main production company of the series, Shaftesbury, advertises the show as follows:

"An irreverent, mysterious dramedy for millennials, Carmilla (108 x four-minutes) is a scripted transmedia series that puts a modern spin on the cult classic gothic vampire novella by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu."

https://shaftesbury.ca/carmilla/

Again, 108 episodes in total, 3 seasons á 36 episodes (Shaftesbury did not produce "Season Zero") - not counting the "Christmas Special".

That's why ... :-)
