Discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation

Who or what is Q?

Q (played by John de Lancie) seems to be omnipotent and omniscient. He is not God, as there are more of his kind (Q Continuum) with similar powers, but he can be considered a god by lesser beings.

Q is the alpha (S1E1 & S1E2 "Encounter at Farpoint") and the omega (S7E25 & S7E26 "All Good Things...") of this series.

He has made numerous appearances and influenced the journey of the Enterprise and its crew in various ways (e.g. S2E16 "Q Who?").

At the end of this journey, is the whole series not just an experiment devised by the Q Continuum to explore humanity's right of existence?

As Q would put it:

"The trial never ends. We wanted to see if you had the ability to expand your mind and your horizons. And for one brief moment, you did."

And so, what is Q to us?

Is he a friend or a foe, a mentor or a bully?

Are we to him just "lab rats", toys to be played with for his amusement?

Q knows.

What happened to the Metrons, the Organians and Dauwd on that list. And the X'individual the Weakest villains? come on the X'indi would make minced meat of the Cardassians. Also the Suliban almost destroyed a top of the line Vulcan warship with a couple of small flying "cubes".

Q is expected to return - male/female/whatever form - in "Star Trek: Picard (2020-)". This will make the link to the beginning - and the end - of the series "Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994)". The warning about the Federation, humanity, the Borg, all has now come true in the new show.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - "Encounter at Farpoint".

Star Trek: The Next Generation - "All Good Things..." - clip 1.

Q: "...The trial never ended, Captain. We never reached a verdict. But now we have. You're guilty."

Picard: "Guilty of what?"

Q: "Of being inferior..."
...
Q: "...Humanity's fate has been sealed. You will be destroyed."

Picard: "Q, I do not believe that even you are capable of such an act."

Q: "I? There you go again, always blaming me for everything. Well this time I'm not your enemy. I'm not the one that causes the annihilation of mankind. You are."

Picard: "Me?"

Q: "That's right. You're doing it right now. You did it before and you'll do it again."

Picard: "What sort of meaningless doubletalk is this?"

Q: "He doesn't understand. I have only myself to blame, I suppose. I believed in you. I thought you had potential. But apparently I was wrong. May whatever god you believe in have mercy on your soul. This court stands adjourned."

No at the end of the series we see Q with another Q will standing on some asteroid first the will see the USS Discovery fly by they look at each and start laughing uncontrollably after the laughing subsides one Q snaps his finger and we are back in STP time we see the newly named USS Picard fly by Picard is dead.Q and Q look at each shaking theirs heads and saying "Meh what were we thinking! Change it back quickly" Q snaps his finger and everything is Restored we see the USS Titan with Riker ,Worf and Troi and USS Enterprise E flyby with an old Captain Picard ,LaForge ,B4, Beverly Crusher-Picard and Wesley on their final journey.
