In Code of Honor, Geordi, Riker, and even Picard give gentle lectures to Data concerning his lack of human social skills. He is hopefully starting to learn and will be on his way to being more lovable than annoying.
Wesley's mommy goes to bat for her son and he slowly gains more bridge privileges.
The story itself is the most compelling so far. Yar kicks some butt and attracts the attention of a visiting dignitary, who has the authority to grant or refuse a vaccine which is desperately needed elsewhere on Planet Plot Device. His needs, as it turns out, are more than sexual. Picard must thread his way through a planet's "code of honor" to retrieve both the vaccine and Yar. The story has a fair amount of tension and intrigue and is satisfactorily resolved.
The unfortunate elephant in the room is that various racist undertones are present. Picard must deal with a culture consisting entirely of black people. They are proud but rigid and a little backwards. The white woman (Yar) is aware that their leader is simple, but is physically attracted to him.
Still, it was subtle enough that I did not notice it back in the 80s.
It is a hiccup to be sure, but not so onerous that I will not continue to watch. The series is slowly growing on me.
