The first season's message was that nothing is ever a girl's fault. We are apparently a mindless species that has no control over where we we go, what we ingest and who we hang out with.
The second season's message is all of the same BS from the first PLUS that boys and men are inherently evil, every female is a victim waiting to happen and that if you kill yourself, don't worry about it. You will still go to a magical Heaven and better yet, your ghost can return to Earth to feed your ego, as you watch everybody melt down because your awesome self is gone.

I agree with all of those points. Teenage brains are trying to figure shit out. 13 Reasons Why is further clouding that mess by feeding into teens' already out of control narcissism. All that relationship garbage is so annoying. NOBODY CARES WHO YOU ARE EFFING! Also, to think that every person should be able to read your stupid mind or notice every little nuance that might be "off" about you is totally ridiculous and unrealistic. Sitting there silently, not telling a counselor that you were raped means that nothing will be done about it. The world doesn't revolve around stupid, teenage girls and their insignificant romantic problems. Did the 13 Reasons Why kids ever do homework? I mean besides writing idiotic love poems. Anybody ever take chemistry or physics classes in that fucking school? They make it appear as if all we have to look forward to in our high school years are mindless sports teams, drunken hookups and melodramatic poetry. Who will be running the country a couple decades from now?

Agreed with mostly all points. I started watching season 2 a few days ago, and it's so ridiculous how they portray every heterosexual male character. I almost feel like not even watching the rest at all, with all the "you don't know our struggle", "everything is easier for men/boys" or "every guy is evil....even if he's not" propaganda.
There is so much hypocrisy, because things that some of the girls do is truly messed up, too. They are never held accountable for their acts, and any mistake they make is never treated as something as egregious as something a male did. Why? Simply because...they have ovaries, and as such can only be helpless victims? Some women can be extremely vindictive, and can often use their sexuality to get things (or get away with things) which most men cannot. Why is that never acknowledged?
I know that women have to face serious issues, and I empathize with that. But telling the audience that their issues are more important than anyone else's, or that issues faced by boys are less important, or don't matter, is irresponsible in my opinion. Men and boys struggle with suicidal thoughts as well, and in greater numbers I believe. Being divisive, the way this show often is, is counterproductive. Like I said in another thread about this show, everyone (male and female) should take responsibility for their own actions, or lack thereof. Blaming others when you did not report something, fix something you could have, been honest about something, or helped someone in need is just perpetuating the "victim culture" that is so prevalent in our world today.
PS: Before someone just interprets this as "female bashing", actually read what is being said, and try to use logic instead of emotions.
