Regarding Jack's demise...Maybe it is the obvious...Impaired driving, as we were privy to the beer cans in the car...but this could be a misdirection...Maybe he makes that 2 hour drive...Kate calls the bar because something goes wrong at her friend's house and he goes back for her...something happens in the interim? Maybe Rebecca is singing Cat Stevens "Moonshadow", and a bar fight happens---Jack is no stranger to the bar fight? Maybe he is carjacked? Maybe the moon is glaring-his vision is distorted from drinking and he drives his car off a bridge? Ughhhhhh.....I wish my mind would stop doing this. I do have a feeling we will not have it wrapped up for is in a neat little package. Hence waiting for the next season. Ironically, he calls Kate and not the other 2...Maybe she feels guilty for having him go patch things up with Rebecca, or it has something to do with her needing him to return to her friend's house? It doesn't seem like there is enough to the story for Kate to think she's responsible simply by wanting Jack to go after Rebecca to make up...The road to hell is paved with good intention, I suppose...Thank you for letting me ramble...I just needed to get this out.

I figure Kate blames herself because she sparked the idea that he should have said a better goodbye (I love how the child actress gave Rebecca's reaction when he didn't)

so he decided to go to see her perform ..... called the friends house to make sure they were taken care of , thought about it and he wanted Kate to know he was going to make things right. I figure car accident because of the beers and he seemed tipsy getting into the car.

Maybe it's me, but he seemed tipsy when he came home late to say goodbye to Rebecca--his eyes; his body language.

I do agree that impaired driving is going to be a factor in Jack's death and him calling Kate and telling her that he's going to fix things with Rebecca is also one of the reasons for him driving. I do feel sorry for her that she feels so guilty for his death and she thinks that it's her fault. I do hope that we find out the real reason in the season finale, cause it would be nerve wracking not to and have to guess.

Well the good news is that it's been confirmed in the following article that Jack's death will be explained. Hopefully this will provide closure to those of us that have been wondering how he died, and how Rebecca ended up with Miguel.

I can see this being like Desperate Housewives (and I suppose other shows like maybe Lost, which I never watched but that seemed to start the whole genre) in that each season will revolve around a bit of a mystery that gets resolved at the end of the season. With DH, in the first season, it was Mary Alice's suicide (and why?). In another season, it was the death of one of the main characters' mothers.

It's like they're not flat-out mystery shows with characters who are investigators like Castle or Bones and obviously not crime dramas. They're drama/mysteries. Is there a word for this genre?

All I know is if you miss one episode, you miss a lot and can really get lost if you're not following it all closely.
