I love Jason Isaacs so I love the choice. Here is my confusion: I thought Michelle Yeouh was the Captain. Now it appears that there are two ships? Anyone understand what this is about?
The way I read it, Sonequa Martin-Green is first officer to Jason Isaacs as captain of Discovery, and she is the focus of the stories. Michelle Yeoh is captain of a different ship, the Shenzhou.
And that's not exactly ground-breaking, either. Babylon 5 had an Asian female ship commander, 10 years ago: Kim Miyori.
@Knixon : Thanks for letting me know. I had read something a few months ago that Yeoh's character's ship was called the Shenzou, but when I watched the trailer, I really got the impression about her and the Discovery.

Oh, please? Michelle Yeoh looks fine. So does Jason Issacs. My two questions at this point are why is Jason speaking in what seems to be an American accent and why is Discovery rated MA?
She's 55 already. Kate Mulgrew was 40 to 47 for Voyager. Patrick Stewart was 47 to 54 for TNG. Michelle Yeoh is ALREADY older than Stewart was at the END of TNG, and she's 15 years older than Mulgrew was at the start of Voyager. Unless her ship is just a freighter or something, that doesn't strike me as good captain material. She might be about at mandatory retirement age or beyond, for that kind of duty.
As for the TV-MA rating, that seems to be pretty clearly because the writers/producers/etc intend to explore some "alternate sexuality" etc. as a main purpose of the show, at least as far as they're concerned. That isn't why most people will be watching it, at least those that actually do. But it seems to be a big part of why most of the production people are making it. Maybe they really just wanted to make another "Girls" or something, but the only way they could get money from a studio was to call it Star Trek?

I belive Michelle is number1(first officer) to Captain (Isaacs). And Number1 will be the main charcter, not the Captain.

Jason Isaacs is in this? Yah Hoo! I'm a bit confused. The trailer I saw last night gave the impression that Michelle Yeoh is the Captain of Discovery.

Apparently not, unless something happens to Isaacs' character early on and she gets transferred.

@Knixon : Do you think that he'll just be in the pilot?

No idea. Seems like several episodes have been produced already, but I haven't bothered looking for any leaks, if they even exist.

@Knixon : I don't know why I'm interested in Discovery since I don't have access to CBS streaming or whatever they call it.

Well, as was mentioned more than once on imdb, and maybe here too, it will probably be on various torrent sites etc within hours.

If that's Michelle Yeoh in the promos I've seen, and if it's not just makeup, wow she really got old!
