I get more and more disappointed with each episode. Almost all of the characters are unlikable. The Klingons still look dumb and sound dumb. My god did they screw up the Klingons. And we know the spore drive won't last so it's a pointless plot point.
What I wish they had done is set the show a few months before Romulus gets blown up. The Alpha Quadrant is still recovering from the Dominion War and the growing sentiment is that it was the Federation's fault so some of the member worlds start withdrawing from the Federation in protest.
Star Fleet launches a new ship that incorporates some of the tech brought back by Voyager and Dominion tech they won in the war, but the ship is constantly malfunctioning so it's kind of a mess. Even so this ship is tasked with trying to make peace with the member worlds who are thinking about leaving the Federation.
Then in a wikileaks style info dump, top secret documents are released that Star Fleet tried to genocide the Founders hurting their credibility. And although some people are okay with that, Sisko's deleted log confessing how he tricked the Romuluans into the war was salvaged somehow and is also released. Then very shortly after, Romulus blows up. This all looks REALLY BAD for the Federation and 50+ member worlds leave. And most important of all, the Vulcans leave to join their Romulan brothers and help them rebuild.
I also think it would have been cool to have a Jem'Hedar in Star Fleet as chief of security on the new ship and a Romulan to help tie into the Romulan story.
I also would like to see a new race of villains who are responsible for the member worlds leaving the Federation and getting them to join a new anti-Federation alliance that's driven by the growing hatred for the Federation. And best off all the Klingons will look like Klingons.

Drop by YouTube and look for a game demonstration of Origin's "Wing Commander: Privateer." Imagine going the "Harcourt Fenton Mudd" route with deals, ship upgrades, smuggling, fighting off crooks/religious fundamentalists/Kilrathi/local cops to enhance your bottom line. Back in the 1990's, I flew through "Wing Commander 1 and 2," but found "WC: Privateer" a bit too complex. As in LucasArts' "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis," making this video/computer game into a movie makes (some) sense. (Then there's "The Dig," but the idea of overdosing on "Life Crystals" could have been a problem back then.;)

I don't think a Jem'Hadar in Starfleet in any capacity, really, would make any more sense than the Lt Dolphin in some of the "fan fiction." The Jem'Hadar dependence on ketracel white would be just as limiting as Lt Dolphin's requirement for some kind of water enclosure and special life support equipment.

There was an episode where a group of Jem Hadar had broken their white dependency and Bashir was working on a way to replicate it. With the war over, it makes sense Starfleet Medical would have the time and resources to continue that work.
I imagine that the "Alpha" Jem Hadar would be outcasts and could not return to the Gamma Quadrant and many opted to commit suicide for failing to win the war, but there would be several thousand that were in their maturation chambers and were not yet born at the end of the war, and Starfleet decided it would be inhumane to kill them so they modify them so that they don't need k-white and can survive on regular food.
I'm just saying there's a lot of character stuff to play with when you have a Jem Hadar. They were a noble, loyal, complex race of slave warriors. It would be interesting to see one of them function with the free will to decide what to do for himself, and deciding to join Starfleet and be looked down on by other Jem Hadar much like Worf was with other Klingons.

You need to see that episode again. The "renegade" Jem'Hadar wanted to leave the Dominion, and they WANTED TO BE free of "the white," but it didn't work out. After Bashir failed in finding a cure or whatever, he and O'Brien were allowed to leave by the First who stayed behind because he knew his soldiers had to kill him for his betrayal.
Considering the Jem'Hadar were created/manufactured specifically to be dependent on the White for control, it makes sense that "breaking" or "curing" the dependence would be no easy task.
