I'm currently watching season 2 and I'm enjoying it even more than season 1. I might start reading the novels after finishing season 2.

I liked season 1 but season 2 got way too silly for me. Season 1 was just the right level to be considered quirky. Then season 2 had no grounding at all. It did have a decent, imaginative conceit. But it wasn't done very well. I don't think it was the right world for that kind of story. And it needed a very talented director to pull it off.
