I thought season 1 of Riverdale was the best CW series in a long time. Probably the best since the early seasons of The Vampire Diaries. I'm not necessarily opposed to superhero series, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of the CW ones that have hit the air over the past few years. They are either too cheesy, too episodic or too plot driven. Riverdale has the perfect mix of plot driven and character driven stories with good melodrama thrown in. I also thought the cast was very strong. I hope the series continues to be good going into the future, and I also hope The CW continues to develop more dramas like this one. Superhero series are fine, but not every night needs to be filled with them.
