Je ne parle pas français! worried

Thanks for your report! slight_smile

I'm not sure what you're asking -> you want to know if this show was cancelled after season 1? Yes, the British network "itv" cancelled the show:

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/news/a823098/itv-drops-heavily-hyped-period-drama-the-halycon-after-one-series
http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2018-02-09/itv-axes-the-halcyon-after-just-one-series

As far as I know and based on my quick research, there won't be another season for this show! disappointed

Sorry for the too "short" question. I try to explain better. The first season are now viewing by french TV. And "before" when we don't have another (second or ...) season, the french word used was status "terminé" something like "ended" For my understanding" annulé" like "cancelled" is that somebody has tell that we can view this TV Serie one day, and that the work are stopped before we have see the first episode. Merci Michael

Thank you! smiley_cat

Hm, I can't say if this is perhaps a mistake with the translation into French?

BUT: In English, the difference between "Cancelled" ("Annulé") and "Ended" ("Terminé") is defined in the Contribution Bible:

Cancelled: cancelled by the network.

  • It is used as soon as a cancelled series ends or it can be used when a cancelled series is puled from the regular schedule.
  • TV series are usually cancelled because of low ratings or other business related reasons.
  • A cancellation is (usually) a sudden end to the story and production. e.g. Angel from Hell, Minority Report and Castle were cancelled.

Ended: the series is over and the end was planned in advance. e.g. Pretty Little Liar, Lost.

As long as I know, this specific show was cancelled according to our rules and how we use the English term "cancelled" (it did not end as planned, so we can't use "ended").

I can't say any more to this -> I think it's a language/translation problem and someone else who understands/speaks French has to answer your question. princess_tone3

I think that you are right, something has change in the translations files. And thanks for your "patience" Merci Michael

@michael47 cancelled/annulée have the same meaning in both languages https://www.google.com/search?q=s%C3%A9rie+annul%C3%A9e

Hi Banana Girl, Yes and No. When i modify the statut of a TV Serie (french language) I've between the choices "Terminé" or "Annulé".

  • Terminé ->for me it's that 1 or more seasons are broadcasted, but not new season is planned.
  • Annulé -> for me it's that the first season (planning for 5 or(??) episodes was cancelled after 1 or X episodes, but allways before the theoretical end . When I'm wrong i think that it's better to delete on of the two. Merci Michael

@michael47 Yes and no. According to this article, The Halcyon was originally meant to be five seasons. Therefore, it was cancelled way before the theoretical end.

Ok you are right @banana_girl banana_girl, MAIS I'm not sure that the "normal" customer understand. What I see like "foreign" customer is 1 season with all episodes broacasted by my TV. When I recorded the serie,I don't know nothing more in this moment. (For better understanding I'm Kodi user (with TinyMediaManager) and I use TMDB to identify my mediatheque). But I'm interesting (my wife ask me a lot of time) to know if we can see another season. The different between "terminé" and "annullé" is very interesting, but need something more . Something like a info file, which share your infos.

The only difference between "Terminé" and "Annulé" is how the series ended. Was it a planned ending or an abrupt ending (cancellation)? But in both cases, there won't be a new season.

"Returning Series" is the status used for series that are still airing and/or haven't yet been officially cancelled by the network.
