I wasn't expecting a spitting image, but you think they'd have gotten someone to slightly resemble him. You wouldn't have even known it was Frank Sinatra unless the name was mentioned.

I know right? Sort of like Sarandon for me. I just can't get past it's Sarandon.

I have more of a problem with Jessica Lange. Absolutely nothing like Joan in voice or mannerisms. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by Sinatra..

I think we've come to expect that none of the characters in this show actually look, or act, like the people they're supposedly portraying.

I think Kathy Bates is the best portrayal. Have we seen Sarah Paulson yet? And why didn't they get Denis O'Hare to play Sinatra. I thought it was him at first. I guess he is a little old, but he could pull it off.

I thought Sinatra was being played by Denis O'Hare too 'til I looked up Toby Huss (from Colony). If you look up the younger Sinatra, Huss doesn't look all that off and I think he's a terrific actor. I was shocked though, at how much of an egotistical creep Sinatra was . Aldrich was a talented guy and knew it. He just had to put up with so much crap from the rest of Hollywood. I think Warner knew it too, but understood that he would have to pay Aldrich more if he ever admitted it. Jack Warner liked to keep everyone in his stable under him by insulting them and refusing to admit their talent. It was just about money to him.

I don't really know anything about the background there and had never heard of Aldrich. But, it all sounds about right. And, even though at first it was disarming to see Sinatra act that way, I then realized that was probably true. I was just used to seeing him in movies being charming.

Apparently he caused a big ruckus when he visited Australia in 1974. The airport workers were instructed by the union not to give Sinatra any service what so ever.

Wow, I knew Sinatra kind of liked to seem associated with the mob, really just a wannabe, but he's out of control. Asking for booze that he knew would be a task for someone to get and then laughing about how he doesn't drink it anyway was the flash point. He set them off to write headlines about his "mob molls" and such. Berating the female press as "dollar and a half whores" or whatever it was when those headlines pissed him off was disgusting. He thought he would get away with it because of the times, but they were changing. Media wasn't even close to what it is today or everyone would have known that story. I've heard tons about Sinatra (only the good stuff from fans) but never this. And he was endangering people's jobs by interfering through some embargo he was calling on Aussie imports with the Jimmie Hoffa phone call to NY. Screw Sinatra. I'll never hear his music again without remembering what a shit he is.

Or I should say "was". It wasn't a good end for him.

Yeah, I thought it was common knowledge that Sinatra was a creepy asshat. Being charming on screen has nothing to do with how they behave in real life. Didn't he have Mia Farrow served divorce papers ON SET while she was filming Rosemary's Baby? He was 50 and she was 21 when their 2 year marriage started.

I'm wondering where the writers got their inside information about these movie stars because it seems straight out of the National Enquire magazine or TMZ.
