Discuss Young Sheldon

Those of you who live in Texas would a teen pregnancy really cause this much drama for an entire neighborhood to shun you?

I was a big fan of TBBT and this show Young Sheldon has definitely grown on me, I do love the easter eggs and origins to TBBT that YS throws in here and there. The show seemed to find its own groove and then they just made the teen pregnancy the main focus of this current season which was ok but then just dragged it out all season long. Like ok we get it, the shows implying pre-marital sex and teen pregnancy is the worst thing you can do in Texas.... but is it? I mean now in 2022 isn't abortion like a million times worse for Texans?

Well back to the show, not loving where this season focused on and the finale was probably the worst season finales so far, Sheldon finally puts on a Flash t-shirt like WOW that was supposed to satisfy us and inspire us to come back next season?

I think the writers should finally have Sheldon's dad cheat on the mom since the mom's def in some super shady area with the youth pastor for several episodes now. Also think they should go back to having the show focus on SCIENCE and sheldon's genius abilities since thats million times better than his brother knocking up some chick and dragging that drama all season long.

Jenna Von Oy was also way hotter than Mayim Bialik ("Blossom")

Yeah she was! I remember peeps were giving her props for having booty??? I never seen evidence of that but I guess its true? But then again pretty much all the chicks from that era were hotter than Blossom/Amy Farrah Fowler

Didn't know it was the finale...so had to re-watch.

Didn't really see Georgie’s pregnancy dilemma as the primary focus of the season. Thought it was just one piece of the baggage contributing to George and Mary's imploding marriage…which I saw as the main focus.

I am not liking Mary-The-Younger half as much now as I did at the beginning. Overall, I much prefer Mary-The-Older from TBBT. M-T-Y is coming across now as kind of a controlling, BB shrew.

The Concerned-Hardworking-and-Torn George we have now, doesn't match up with the Barely-There-and-Constantly-Beer-Guzzling George that Sheldon described in TBBT. Maybe the combined weight of his marriage woes/under-employment/mortgage/impending grandfatherhood/jealousy/lusting is what turns him into the father of Sheldon’s TBBT memory.

I'm thinking that once upon a time the church was the epicenter of a neighborhood. You lived in the same neighborhood, went to the same church, shopped at the same stores, ate at the same places, your kids attended the same school, you were buried in the same cemetery, etc. In other words, there was no separation between church and everything else that went on with the people in a neighborhood; so yea, I can see a teen pregnancy being a drama-maker. Even more so, since he is the son of Mrs.-Standard-Bearer, herself...who also happens to work at the church.

Watching this show, makes me see Sheldon and his family in TBBT in a complete different light. In TBBT Sheldon 'lied' a lot about his childhood, or he just - intentionally? - forgot, or he changed things from his past to suit his situation.

Maybe it's just that he left home at such an early age that he still perceived a lot of things/situations that happened through “childhood-like” eyes.

He was a lot less mature than Missy, who was more “aware”; and therefore better able to “read between the lines” when it came to the situations, and the goings-on of the people around her. Right now, Missy may be THE ONLY ADULT in the house.

Also, let’s face it; when it has to do with people, even the adult Sheldon (TBBT) is STILL “slow on the uptake” when it comes to understanding actions, nuances, emotions, etc. Then as now, he is long on smarts; but short on perception.

What he has given us in describing his past is probably no more than HIS-VERSION-of-the-truth as he remembers it.

Except Sheldon supposedly has an eidetic memory.

I think you should watch a few episodes the show and see what it's all about. I love Emily Osment and have always found her attractive. As you know she is also on that show.

I don't have anything against Miley Cyrus but I agree with you.

LOL so me and my daughter who's only 5 binged Hanna Montana. Its a pretty cool show, already dated as there was a ton of early 2000's references and jokes. If I was like a 8 year old kid I'd probably really like the show so I totally see the appeal of it now. I get why Miley was such a big star, she definitely has real charisma and all I just thought as she got older she'd develop more into a women's body instead of keep on looking like a skinny pre-teen?

As for Emily, wow she was really good! Very cute, very pretty, probably even prettier than Miley and really good comedic timing and acting. Its crazy how shes pretty and her brother came out looking so funky even though he was a really cute kid in Six Sense.

But yeah some other interesting fun facts, Emily's dad was played by John Cryer and Emily appears on an episode of Two And Half Men, she plays some $lutty trailer park trash chick who's dating Jake and ends up marrying the Car Salesman guy played by Scott Bakula. But they even make fun of Hanna Montana when Ashton calls Emily Hanna Montana or something like that when she shows up in one scene.

Jenna von Oy was - and still is - cuter than Mayim Bialik too.

Not just that, Emily played the daughter of Tammy, who was played by Jaime Pressly and Jake was "dating" Tammy FIRST, and the title of the episode was "Bazinga! That's From A TV Show."

In the certain neighborhoods, absolutely. This isn't just true of Texas either

Thats unfortunate, its like you damned if you do you damned if don't. Abortion is a big NO NO there too but, so is having a baby out of wed lock, its all sad, its really no ones business but the mother and father. I remember in TBBT Sheldons always saying he's from East Texas right? Is East more conservative than West Texas or something? Also how's Lone Star Beer? I always wanted to try one!

HA! SIX!!!!!!!! Yeah pretty much most chicks were hotter than Mayim, I dont think she was ever perceived as the hot chick ever in anything right? I do remember though when she was pretty much behaving like Madonna in that one episode of Blossom, that was probably the hottest we'd ever get with her. She is a good actress through, re-watching TBBT she is really believable as her character and you can tell she has a lot of experience. I remember she was even co-starring in an episode of Webster even!

Ha Ha YEAH!!! There was a lot of cross over between TBBT and TwoAndHalfMen and HannahMontana there! Its funny John Cryer was a loser divorced dad in both Hannah Montana and TwoAndHalfMen. In HM he's living in a crappy studio and in TwoAndHalf he's mooching off of Charlie! Maybe Hannah Montana helped him land the part in TwoAndHalf even lol.

Maybe, but Jon (note spelling) Cryer had a career of his own before then, and after too. Probably got the most initial attention from the movie "Pretty In Pink."

I agree Pretty In Pink was huge for Jon but believe it or not, personally I loved Jon's movie Hiding Out! Thats probably the only project he did where he's the cool guy that everyone looks up to! LOL. He was a successful wall street broker then pulled a 21 Jumpstreet and went undercover to hide out in his nephews school changing his clothes from wall street yuppy to edgy Punk rocker and giving himself a cool punk hair cut too Spikey hair and blonde sides lol. We never seen the blonde sides hair ever again on the screen or in real life! Jon was totally original in this character! Also can't forget the hit song from the movie Catch Me I'm Falling by Pretty Poison!!!!!
