I'm a huge MacFarlane fan. Family Guy and American Dad are two of my favorite TV shows, and I also love the Ted movies. However, I'm not really a Star Trek fan, and I'm not really a fan of the case of the week format that Star Trek followed. When it comes to hour long series I prefer that they be serialized. I'm probably going to watch this just because of how much I like MacFarlane, but I'm not really sure what to expect.

I also think this is going to have a tough time succeeding on broadcast TV. All the Star Trek series aired in syndication or on a smaller network like UPN. The original series that did air on a broadcast network like CBS got cancelled after 3 seasons. So I think they would have been better off doing this on cable or streaming. But we'll see...

If this show is half as good as "Galaxy Quest", I'm in -- loved that movie.

I'm not a Seth MacFarlane fan. None of the shows he's known for interest me at all. However, I really liked The Orville. Its definitely a Star Trek pastiche, but that's okay. If he can maintain this balance between light drama, humor and decent SF I could easily see a long run.

I liked it a lot. Great action/comedy in a classic sci-fi setting.

I watched it this evening. It had a couple of funny moments, but I'm hoping they can stay away from the 'puerile' humor. I will watch next week and make a decision then.
