Yeah, I looked him up after you mentioned him. He's been in NOTHING I would ever have watched.

You never watched 'Saturday Night Live' in 90's? I have the impression that most of the posters on this thread are under 40 (possibly under 30)?

Nope. I watched as a very young child in the late 70s and through the 80s (the best years of SNL in my opinion) and stopped in the 90s because it just got too stupid to me and stopped being funny. I watched the Jane Curtain and Eddie Murphy and Chevy Chase, etc. years. And yes, I realize Chevy Chase was never part of the official cast and was only a repeat guest, but he was on a lot during those years.

Chevy Chase was a cast member from the first season, maybe you are thinking of Bill Murray? I watched from the very beginning and thought it started really going downhill when Will Ferrell (& others) joined the cast.

And voiced by Norm MacDonald, he's perfect for it.

I'm a little late to the game here, but...YES! I knew I recognized that voice. Norm MacDonald is actually second-billed when I record it on my DVR, and I know I didn't see him anywhere, but also did not put the name and the voice together. Now it makes sense. I can't wait to see Yaphit again knowing who he is now.

It was a long time ago. If he was a cast member, fine. I mostly just remember Jane Curtain, Eddie Murphy, etc. But I stopped watching somewhere in the mid to late 80s.

I can still vaguely remember a fake commercial where they're in a group, in a bar, drinking and having a good time, and then they start screaming because it turned out they were in Hell. I think it was supposed to be some spoof on one of the old beer commercials. Anyway, the fake commercials were awesome, and Eddie Murphy as Buckwheat was hilarious. And maybe I'm wrong and thinking of a different show, but I seem to remember that this was the creation show for Mr. Bill? Loved that too.

OK, I'm tired. Night all.

Eddie joined the cast in the 6th season (December 1980). Loved Buckwheat & Gumby, also Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood.

Mr. Bill was first seen in 1st season (February 1976).

Years ago I bought a laserdisc collection of the Mr Bill and Toonces (The Driving Cat) segments, if it's been out again since then on dvd it might not be as complete.

Maybe he gets so depressed on the Discovery that he actually beam over to the Orville to relax and to getaway from a his dull and lifeless crew-mates.
