Actually Roddenberry would have agreed with the rebooted Trek movies since his son Eugene once showed a clip (to JJ Abrams)of an interview with GR where he spoke of that he could imagine in the future a Star Trek series/movies which dealt with a young Kirk and his days at the academy .
Except that doesn't apply because the reboot movies aren't about young Kirk and his days at the academy leading up to the TOS episodes etc. The reboot movies turn everything upside-down, with stuff like Kirk somehow becoming captain of the Enterprise before he even served with captain Garrovick, for example.
The reboot movies seem like wish-fulfillment of current no-delayed-gratification wannabes who imagine they can be in command of a starship even without finished high school if they're really good at video games, and maybe skateboarding.

Maybe he figures it's a cheap copy that doesn't fool anyone. But I would say Discovery is the cheap copy that isn't fooling anyone.

Does anybody know what the ratings are for either one?

I doubt Nielsen handles CBS All Access, which might have been deliberate.
