Even before the beginning of season three, there are already rumours that this is the final season. Seth MacFarlane is busy developing his new show "Ted" with him reprising his role as Ted in an upcoming TV spin-off of the hit 2012 movie "Ted (2012)":
As Seth MacFarlane gears up to launch a new TV series in Peacock’s Ted spinoff, it appears that another of his live-action offerings is coming to an end.
Fans of MacFarlane’s sci-fi comedy-drama series The Orville have been waiting patiently since 2019 for the show’s third season, and with The Orville: New Horizons finally set to launch in June, Deadline is reporting that there are currently no plans for a fourth season and the cast of the show have all been released from their contacts after their options expired back in August 2021.
Scott Grimes will also appear in "Ted" and some of the other actors are casting for other shows.
So let's enjoy this - possible - final season of "The Orville".

Seth MacFarlane has already said that as far as he's concerned, there will be more Orville at some point. Meanwhile, Hulu's position is they want to see the viewing figures before rushing into it
