• Adrianne Palicki plays the Human first officer Commander Kelly Grayson. She is the ex-wife of Ed Mercer.

• Scott Grimes plays the Human Lieutenant Gordon Malloy. He is the helmsman and best friend of the captain.

• Peter Macon plays the Moclan second officer Lieutenant Commander Bortus. He lives with his mate Klyden (Chad L. Coleman) and Topa (Blesson Yates - child; Imani Pullum - adolescent) on the ship.

• J. Lee plays the Human Lieutenant Commander John LaMarr. He is the chief engineer.

• Mark Jackson plays the Kaylon Science Officer Isaac. He is an artificial life form.

• Jessica Szohr plays the Xelayan Lieutenant Talla Keyali. She is the chief of security.

• Anne Winters plays the Human Ensign Charly Burke. She is the navigator and has the ability to visualize multiple dimensions at an impressive speed with sharp accuracy.

• Penny Johnson Jerald plays the Human Lieutenant Commander Claire J. Finn. She is the chief medical officer and lives on the ship with her two sons, Ty (Kai Wener) and Marcus Finn (BJ Tanner).

• Norm Macdonald is the voice of Gelatin Lieutenant Yaphit. He is an engineer and has a crush on Doctor Claire Finn .
