Can't say I'm happy about the way the BBC are creating this as a commission for Amazon Prime.

Great book, two wonderful authors and the actors involved are of the best calibre, I think the show will be great - that all said, the commercial arm of the Beeb is getting out of order creating content for commission and then showing it at a later date it back to those who fundamentally funded its ability to be created.
It could work if Amazon pile the money in for a ridiculously high production value which the Beeb releases within Britain the evening after its airing in the US but anything other than that is theft by the BBC from the license payer in my opinion.

You said it yourself, it's the commercial arm. They're funded by their customers, not by the general public. They have likely given Amazon a bit of a discount compared to other production companies in trade for the right to show it to the public at a later date, but in every other sense it's simply a broadcaster commissioning work from a production company.
Would you prefer it was produced by someone else, and then not shown for free to the british public at all?
