This series has been initially broadcasted on the BBC in 2 parts. As we are always following the original broadcast, we are listing it as 2 episodes.
It is now available on Amazon Prime in a 3 episodes version. IMDB is a subsidiary of Amazon. So, IMDB prefers listing it as it is available on Amazon Prime.
