Isn't that the same reviewer who liked and enjoyed "Ms. Marvel (2022-)" and even recommended it? wink

Could be just saying if even the schills arent liking this we are in for a bumpy ride

Rotten Tomatoes

Critics 83 percent, fans 37 percent.

That's quite a swing. I'd guess by reading some of the 1/2 star reviews are from toxic fan boys that probably didn't see it. And I understand the first episode is all exposition which bores me. I'll settle in this weekend and give it a watch. One review IGN says that they didn't rely on corny CGI as much as the Hobbit films which will be good, but it sure looks glossy.

IMDb has began to actively block and remove as many negative reviews as they can.

Watching the battle for ratings seems more exciting than the first 2 episodes, but the show can improve in the next 6 episodes and there is a season two. Galadriel will beat the darkness out of that bully Sauron. wink

Watched the first 2 episodes and found that if I shut down the expectations that this has anything to do with any Tolkien works and just look at it sort of a fan piece done in middle earth I have to admit helped. is it good not really but its not near as bad as the doom and gloomers are just dont walk into this expecting Tolkien its not not even close. The best thing about it though is definitely the visuals but for how much they spent on it it better be lol Will keep watching this for a while with that attitude and see where it goes

NuTolkien? wink

evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and destroy what is good

I enjoyed it. The pacing was more in line with the books honestly. They did a very brief history that threw in some The Silmarillion stuff which was nice to see but it's clear that this show isn't that -- but it looks like they are leading up to one of the important plots from the book. A few criticisms from the web are just not correct. The dialog was on par with the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies - and no one speaks like they do in the books, which is a blessing. Do purists really want everyone to sing and speak in verse? The more inclusive casting was far from woke -- it worked very well. The Harfoot were far from Ewoks. They actually seemed closer to what I imagined Hobbits to be. Dirty and stay to themselves. Every part seemed cast well. Galadriel was far from being a superhero as some have said. I mean you are not get Cate Blanchett but I thought the actor playing her was good. Especially enjoyed the Giant -- who is probably Gandolf but I hope it is not. Loved the moment when the elves, in formation, are dressed and sing as they reach the end of their journey.

Overall they separated themselves from the movies, and from Game of Thrones enough to stand on it's own.

The time this story takes place just doesn't have much history in the texts but it's clear they did grab stuff from the indexes. That kind of blows away criticism that they didn't follow the books. To say it isn't close enough doesn't ring true -- unless you're judging the movies with the show which are different in tone. They movies were action films with added and expanded characters. They're doing the same here but different. But as a fan of the books I thought it was just fine.

you sound like you're paid by amazon... there is no such thing as "inclusive casting", that is a propaganda term coined by americans... amazon is streaming in countries all over the globe, so literally nothing about this show is "inclusive" if you look at the countless cultures and whatever... I really don't understand what did they do with that 1 billion dollars they advertised? did they spend it on drugs and hookers? 'cuz literally everything looks cheap, the casting is cheap, the costumes are cheap, the story feels like a washed down fantasy we've seen already seen a million times in the past few years alone...

no need to insult me because we disagree. Sorry you didn't like it. We get it.

I like what I’ve seen so far. it’s paced well. They do a good job of keeping the multiple threads going and it feels completely different from Game of Thrones. Not knocking GOT, just hate when a show is big and then everybody tries to shoehorn other IP’s into the same style and approach. I couldn’t get through the first episode of House of The Dragon but watched these first two episodes in 2 days. I’m not a Tolkien fan (don’t dislike, just never read the books) but a fan of fantasy and most genre content. Looking forward to seeing where they go and it helps to wash the taste of the other Amazon show Wheel of Time out of my mouth..lol. Long live The Expanse!!!
