No I haven't seen it but in fairness I will post this glowing review. Since I previously linked a bad review here then is a good one. Hopefully this will offer a chance to discuss the new show with positivity. If you are anti-Picard, no need to repeat your arguments as they are well known already. This is meant to be a pro Picard thread

I wasn't dehumanizing. anybody Invidia in fact I was against the whole thing remember it is the extreme PC groups that are responsible for this they are the ones demanding thing that words like Mankind, woman,Human and other words that make distinctions of gender or race are to be banned so we all are nothings just numbers or names no distinctions not any mention of anything that separates us it's basically Winston's Ministry Of Truth in 1984.

It was the "feminists" who came up with Ms, not anyone else.
You do get that was a STORY, right? Like those other STORIES on TV and in movies that you and some others on here, seem to thing represent actual life. And maybe that anyone who doesn't advocate burning all those books/movies/etc, must ipso facto agree with them.
Maybe you should take it up with Homer, who WROTE THE STORY, not us present-day people?
Leaving aside the "exact same job" stuff which isn't true, then you're REAL problem isn't with any REAL people, it's with the Ferengi. Who, after all, for thousands of year and even up to Federation times, kept their females unemployed, and naked - which doesn't seem like a good idea for a world that is apparently always cold and raining.
But then again, the Ferengi don't really exist either!

I thought the feminists used Mz. Anyways how about that planet on Next Gen where the women ruled. Weren't they going to execute Riker or something? For being too sexy I bet.

No for having too much breast hair. But looking at the case of being too sexy from a legislative perspective it was provocation from their part they wanted him to wear that shirt.
Also you can't blame Riker that some ladies who haven't seen an alpha male in decades can't control their horniness.

@Oduntola: What a terrific post! This is exactly how I feel about the Canon Extremists complaining about Discovery and Picard. The shows are not your Father's Star Trek, but they are Star Trek. It's sad to see how toxic the Star Trek community has become.

What is toxic about ?not liking a show that is doom gloomy dystopia full of hate gruesome violence incest racial stereotypes belittling of the elder not the bright hopefull future with all inclusiveness and where species would settle conflicts by using their wits and power of diplomacy rather than murder violence sex and incest.Where the creators of the show can actually come up with something by themselves and write clever entertaining stories that make sense and look less like fantasy and more like science fiction.
Would you like to see (if he still was alive) a show where an older Robert Lansing as Gary 7 being belittled in every episode by Loretta and mostly other women for things he supposedly had done in the off screen time?I think you would pass on that.

I'm a fangirl, not a fanboy. I apologise for saying "What the F**k is wrong with you ". I shouldn't have used that word. In the future I shall disagree with you more politely. Live Long and Prosper.

Meanwhile, back at the OP, has anyone else noticed that all of the Romulan characters have English or Irish accents?

Is everyone just using their natural accents? Orla Brady (the housekeeper) is Irish. Or lots of planets have an Ireland? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svi-fBXZzqI

Just realised, Peyton List (Narek's sister) isn't English - though she is a baddy and so it's Hollywood shorthand for them to have a British accent. She does do a pretty good job of it.
Good point, though I wonder if it's just the production team going overboard in showing that they're not just casting white guys.
BTW, I do most of the cooking at Château LeMarchand and I don't feel like a housekeeper!

I just have a set of Judge stainless steel saucepans (3 sizes + milk + frying) that my folks gave me when I moved out. Still going strong many years later though, despite my best efforts to "prove" it, the frying pan is kinda useless - I have a Tefal non-stick one.
Also have a wok (so old that it came from an oriental store as they weren't available elsewhere at the time) and a 2-tier steamer which needs replacing soon as the bottom is starting to warp away from the base..
The only "luxury" tools I've bought are a small selection of ceramic knives as I cba to sharpen knives. Even they were all bought on offer!
As Bonus Daughter #2 still lives with us and cooks her own lunch (she works from home) and fails to grasp concepts like "a metal spatula will scrape the non-stick coating off a pan", the Judge pans must be pretty good to have survived her!

Aside from the necessity-being-the-mother-of-invention reality of men being out doing other things while the women stayed home, in earlier times, one explanation is that it's another example of the double bell curve and varying distribution. With the "cooking-ability" distribution for women having a taller "hump" at the average or median point, while the scale for men doesn't go as high in number but extends further. Which means there are more "average" female cooks/chefs, but the curve tapers off more rapidly. On the other hand, there are fewer "average" male cooks, but the share of "Exceptional" continues farther.
I looked for an illustration example, but couldn't find one before having to leave for errands.
