Discuss Star Trek: Picard

But what if Picard IS Trump?

Think about it.

There are a lot of details that can be included, but I'll settle for a rough outline.

Some people claim that Trump turned the wonderful US and federal government that Obama had created, into a cesspool... even before he was sworn into office, really.

But the "Deep State" and such have been around for a long time. FBI misbehavior - including spying on Trump and the Trump campaign - occurred during the Obama administration

On Star Trek, we might find that problems with the Federation/Starfleet in general and with Earth in particular, were developing for a long time. And that Picard's departure from Starfleet was not just from a single out-of-the-blue or out-of-left-field event. Even in the TNG and DS9 series-es, we saw what could be evidence of increasing problems and corruption "back home." For example, in the two-part DS9 episode "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost." Picard has been seeing all of that going on during his lifetime.

Similarly, Trump has been around and involved in business, and somewhat in politics, for a long time too.

So now in Star Trek: Picard, we're going to get Picard rising up to take on the problems back home, etc etc.

Just like Trump.

I await the exploding heads.

Patrick Stewart's head is exploding right now. 💣💥🤯

Then my life is complete. grinning

I don't even understand the reason why Stewart even bothers about Brexit he has become an a US citizen and talking about refugees what about his Irish Romulan maid and Romulan butler can't he employ more Romulans for his vineyard it takes a lot of people to pick those grapes and press the juice out of the grapes make the wine barrels nd make wine etc etc or does he rely on seasonal labour ?Wait....Wait a minute now I think I have figured out why Picard left Starfleet and has grudges with the Federation with their isolationist policies he is just a white male profiteer who wants a cheap Romulan labour force.Chateau Picard my ass!Chateau Romulan Exploitation you mean ... laughing

Yes but it's for their own good, right? That makes him sound like some kind of British nobleman with a... what did they call them? some kind of plantation?... in India.

But the funniest thing I think is that Invidia seems to have totally missed the point of my OP.

That would be considered racist nowadays Knix we can't have white men exploiting people from another race. wink

Don't know have to take your word on that.

I wonder if Legolas is going to have his Legolas Moment in Picard.Considering I have seen Dahj jumping 30 ft in the air like Neo and fights like she just had an upload. And another thing senior citizen of 97 years old gets blown away like 20 ft by a huge explosion and doesn't break a single bone or has a single injuy?Seems like Raffi is not the only one using drugs wink

Legolas ? The elf from LOTR is in this? And Raffi? The kids singer ? What kind of show is this?

It's a mix of LOTR meets Star Wars meets The Matrix on acid Zne.Wait wait...I take everything I said about Kurtzman back he is a frickin' genius he wrote an autobiographical series using a SF metaphor.Where he describes his struggles with a hallucinogenics adiction and the struggles with the inner demons from his past. stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

crystal_ball Let me guess my previous post will probably have gotten a lengthy reply by Madame Encyclopaedia.And....probably about the Picard dream??

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

A Picard pipe dream?

It's just a guess, but based on the positive reaction, I suspect Invidia believes I was positing that Picard might actually be just as bad as many think Trump is. But I was actually positing that Trump might be just as great as many think Picard was/is and will be including in the new show. And for the same reasons. Now I await the "no no, actually Picard is awful just like Trump!" Or the like. Because those people could never admit that Trump might actually be FIXING many of the problems that have developed over decades including in the Obama administration, same as Picard might be getting set up to fix what he sees as the corruption of the Federation and Starfleet.

What do you suppose he was smoking in that pipe?

For a show that just had it's premier episode. A show that to my knowledge no one here had even signed up for CBS all acess in order to even watch. A show that follows along the line of the Nu-Trek of DSC et all, a show that except for Invidia know one here even likes.

Well everyone sure has an opinion on.

I read ahead. Some people have seen a few episodes already.

And there's no need to sign up and pay CBS for anything. Nor Hulu for The Orville. There are a variety of ways to get them for free.

Seriously it's just a dumb space show that people take way too seriously and read way too much into. It's not like it's Hamlet in space or something like that. Or that it's ever going to be.
