Are you staying behind a podium when you write that Spear? I can see that. Do you have a podcast. You should. You should rail against The Orville. YouTube is just waiting for that.
Hurt by my words Znex? What did I say to offend YOU? The people I mentioned know that my mentions were accurate! I don't rail against TO in a TO forum, I leave them be. That's the difference!!!
Hurt? Why would I be hurt? Amused more like it. I picture you with a mask and a voice changer. What do you mean by TO? The original ? Doesn't matter. Trek is a 50 year old concept now. Rage against the defenders of the status quo all you want. They will not defer. Promote the virtues of Nu Trek they will not concede. You then the great defender. I myself the spouter of nonsense.
Because you chose to launch an Ad Hominem attack on me without justification. Now you are fantasizing about me further. Get a life mate! "I myself the spouter of nonsense." Couldn't agree more!
znexyish, If you don't have better than a 4th grade education or if you do but haven't sort to educate yourself, what I write, the way I write might be confusing. THAT is NOT my fault!

All the people hating on this show have the same thing in common, they expect the characters to be the same versions of themselves from 10/20 years ago. That's unrealistic, since most people evolve and grow over time, but it's understandable that people who don't wouldn't want their favorite characters to either.
Well that's not a very well thought out response is it? Evolving and growing does not mean someone changes their opinion. They might, but in many cases they also strengthen it.
Actually it was, you just didn't realize it. Because that is also why your previous argument doesn't follow. Even though these days it seems to be popular - especially among movie and TV writers/producers/etc - to just take an existing property, turn everything inside-out, and call it "new," "innovative," "deep," etc. Even though it has the same name. That's BS too.
There are two words a lot if once Simpsons fans use. Zombie Simpsons. It means the difference between the first 8-9 seasons when it was a pop culture phenom to the on going seasons when they say it just turned into a mostly mediocre animated sitcom. Haters of the new shows think if them as Zombie Trek. A once pop culture phenom now just a mediocre action show.
That may be a good comparison. I've seen some stuff in later episodes of The Simpsons that was really good, but I haven't followed it closely enough to know if the later seasons in general are a disappointment. And I've already allowed as how that could be the situation with Trek too: those who think the new shows are fine, may not actually know enough about the originals to make a valid judgement. I'm especially concerned by people I've heard referring to TNG as "Original Star Trek."
And frankly, even "mediocre" when referring to NuTrek, may be too kind.
With The Simpsons after the first ten seasons there was no where to go but more of the same. It was inevitable. Same characters, situations, setups, jokes, etc.
New guest stars The well runs dry eventually. All right for a look now and then. With Trek and streaming and a ten episode arc and hyping the show with old characters it's a whole different thing.
Wether it is a good thing is another question

So what you're saying is that in 10 or 20 years, you'll evolve and grow to finally realize that you're wrong now?
Got it.
(You understand, I hope, why you can't answer "no" to that, without denying your own argument?)

I agree. I'm not even sure the whole corrupt federation deal had been shown much. Well the adventures of Synth Picard have just begun.
