It can't... There is already a series 45.

Sorry I’ve managed to be a right turnip.
Series 45: Winter 2017/18 should be series 46 then Series 54: Summer 2017 can become series 45 (this request).
(Note this labels the later series according to the series numbers on BBC iPlayer; I’m working through tidying the earlier series)
