( Kim ll Sung was a North Korean leader/mass-murderer and communist who started the whole Korean War. He was never mentioned even once on Mash!)
In the show's final phase starting around season 8 they introduced the character of Sgt. Luther Rizzo. Would he ever have appeared in the sequel TV series AfterMash? The woman who played Nurse Kelly vocally appeared in the sequel TV show. If Baily had appeared however would it have been as Rizzo? If so an indeed different approach may have been forcibly given to the character. Aftermash was flat out funnier than Mash had been after season 6. So Rizzo would need to be more humourous if he was in the sequel.
Another point. Aftermash was dropped just before many other old Mash regulars could guest. If those old regs, including Alan Alda, had hit it off with the TV audience and had become regulars what would have happened to newly created Aftermash characters -- like Miss. Cox ( Brandes Kemp)? Would she and other newly created spinoff characters disappear from the show entirely? Would the lady playing Mrs. Potter turn out to be almost the only newly created in the flesh element ( she had been referred to and seen in a still picture on Col. Potter's desk on Mash) to last in the spinoff? Would even her role have diminished as the sequel lasted year after year ( if it actually had)? Why did the producers of Aftermash think the last bunch of regs on the increasingly dull, humorless Mash would be good for a way more humourous sequel.? Or was Aftermash going to eventually turn more serious too? Ugh!
