A lot of explaining the first few episodes but that's expected. I read the books when I was a teen. The books don't have a plot and jump around hundreds of years. So making a show of this required the show to be more inspired by the ideas instead of the actual book. I'm amazed to see some are questioning why they didn't follow the book -- which is unfilmable. But yeah read the books. Asimov was a man of great ideas, but he wasn't the greatest writers. But the show is similar I think to what HBO did with The Watchmen. I'm enjoying them quite a bit. I'm sure we'll get the USUAL SUSPECTS complaining about how some players are not white or theire gender has been flipped. The book was all men and not race specific so I'm not having a issue with it. I'm sure some will. If the show reminds me of anything it's Game of Thrones. I'll stick with it.

This was a great interview explaining the route the show runner had to take to make it film-able and relevant to modern day. As you pointed out they needed to develop the characters.
Foundation: The 'unfilmable' sci-fi epic now on our screens

Season 2 has been fun so far. I tried to go back a few episodes into season 1 but there is SO MUCH happening I gave up and just watched the beginning of Season 2 cold. It's like one of those dense 1000-page sci fi books I used to read. Doesn't have much to do with the actual books (which are honestly unfilmable but worth the read) but might be the heaviest, truest sci-fi show out there.

If season 2 takes place 100 years after the ending of season 1, how can the same people be in it? Or am I missing something?

It's super heavy sci fi. Not time travel but clones, suspended animation, brain uploaded to computers and so on... plus flash backs.

Thanks, I haven't read the book/books so was confused when I saw the episode counts for the cast (20).

I read the books way back in HS. This doesn't really resemble them from what my braincells remember.
