Dystopian shows set in the distant future after the modern civilization collapses are always interesting to watch. While shows like The Shannara Chronicles is set too far in the future and go to more magical direction, Tribes of Europa is set in the future in which older generation was still alive during our times, and only younger generations was born into the new world order. And the show doesn't go to the magical realm, instead it goes more towards post-apocalyptic direction of Mad Max in which the civilization is fallen and society is thrown back into more primordial and violent barbaric state of tribes, gangs and city states.
The fast collapse into such barbaric conditions is a bit far fetched and happens surprisingly fast. I mean, the violent and totalitarian tribe of the Crows realistically doesn't get established so fast, seems like it has order, hierarchy and control that has to be developed tens of years and maybe centuries. Not to mention complete abandoning of humanism principles that rule Europe now. But it's fine, considering that the show is more allegorical and symbolic in nature, with some political commentary and a bit of self serving propaganda, the purpose is clear and suspense of disbelief is acceptable.
Surprisingly there is also no mention of religion in any way, not sure if it is intentional detail of the story or just creative decision. All of that creates a sense that this is some kind of alternative universe and helps to suspend disbelief.
The world and the story are developed very well, the lack of blockbuster budget is not significantly important here, the characters have very good arc and the actors do a decent job all around. The world is rich and complex enough to keep interest that minor flaws are easy to forgive.
Hope there would be second season, I was quite entertained.

Half way through. I'm liking it a lot. Certainly not as dense as the creator's other series Dark. More Hunger Games, Mad Max and the journeys of Game of Thrones. Glad I took a chance. Finishing it tonight.
