Does the plot close within Season 1?

Is this definitely a miniseries? I assume so because the story is based on a novel and it likely adapts the entirety of it and needs no continuation, but could anyone who has seen it confirm?

I haven't seen it but according to Wikipedia & IMDb it has 8 episodes in it's 'first' season.

Yeah, I've seen that dubious "'first' season" for other series that never got a second. Will have to either wait or watch it! Thanks.
