Item: Urusei Yatsura
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: According to the anime's episode page, most episodes have multiple segments, labeled on the website as "Episode #-A" and "Episode #-B," with each segment having its own distinct title and overview.
As such, the segments have been split in accordance with our anime guidelines.
Please move any added cast and crew members into their respective segments. Also please report any images that are incorrect (i.e. not from the segment they have been added to).
Moving forward, new episodes of Urusei Yatsura should be added as combined segments (i.e. the April 19, 2024 episode should be a single entry titled "Asuka Returns / A Stormy Date (1)" on TMDB) and previous segments will be merged. Travis, the admin, ultimately decided during an internal discussion about X-Men '97 that these types of segments shouldn't be split since that's not how they were originally released.
This is only with respect to the segment split, whether there should or should not be a second season was not discussed.

However, we find 13 episodes and not 26... or 36 lists currently. Once again you are the only ones to make a horrible cutout. In addition we lose the descriptions, the runtimes are no longer good even though they correspond to the broadcast in the country of origin.

@raze464 is not being arrogant but following the site rule. But yeah this rule is stupid. What's the point of having a tracking website (or database) if it's only going to confuse people. In some scenarios they follow the Show's Official Website while in some they don't. I'm not saying to appease everyone but data you enter needs to have some consistency.

As indicated in our rules, "As with multi-segment cartoons, episodes formed of two or more distinct segments should be split so that each segment is an episode. While not ideal, the main reason for the split is that segments are often paired differently in subsequent releases. "
This is not the personnal decision of the moderator, but the simple application of the rule.

This makes zero sense if you actually watch the series.
Please stop stating the rules for all decisions without zero context as to how they are applied. It's incredibly annoying to have half a series named correctly, then one day the names get all jacked up because someone decides "all episodes in this series need to be renamed because something on this site kind of fits into one of our rules".
Please reconsider this decision, I believe it needs to be reverted. Watch any episode and tell me that they are separate story lines, or that there's anything in an episode that demonstrates a separate part.
Also, if your intent was to fix the listings for the season, why leave all the new parts not fixed? The episode part titles and descriptions are on the site, run them through Google Translate and add those. You've taken one "content issue" and just created another.

I agree with OneWhoNocks. The decision to have these split makes zero sense. The episodes are released on TV & streaming services as currently 13 23-24 minute episodes, not 26 episodes 12-13 minutes in length. This makes zero sense in regard to the release format of this series!
This is an ABSOLUTELY STUPID change.

The Chio's School Road example given in the Contribution Bible is the same; single number for both segments on the official site but each segment is labeled as "Part A" and Part B," just like the "Episode #-A" and "Episode #-B" for this anime.
I just personally checked every episode and each segment has its title shown on-screen. Here are the segment titles for episode 6 as shown in the episode.
I only split the episode descriptions for the Japanese and Korean translations. Any overview that was added to other translations was not done by me.
As I mentioned above and showed in the linked album (also above), the segment titles are shown on-screen.
The rules are there for all users (moderators included) to follow them but we can't check every single entry. It may be annoying for an entry to radically change (I have experienced this firsthand with some Scooby-Doo entries prior to joining TMDB) but the radical change was because this entry did not follow the anime segment rule from the beginning.
As I mentioned at the beginning, I personally checked every episode released so far and, again, the segment titles are shown on-screen and the anime's website has a distinct title for each segment.
I checked every translation and split the titles that were added to the episodes. I also split the Japanese and Korean episode overviews since those were the ones I was able to recognize had overviews for both segments. I try to use official English episode descriptions if available and will only use a translated one or create one from scratch as a "last resort" if no English overview exists. But the overview field was left unlocked so other users could correct existing overviews from the remaining translations and add the missing overviews for the "new" segments post-split.

What in the actual hell did you do now??? Cmon!! The rules of this site are absolutely absurd, it's not the first time and I'm not the only one who complains about the huge amount of errors you have, especially in anime series. Really, if it wasn't because this database is used in Trakt, I wouldn't spend a single second on this crappy site and its nefarious "rules" that do nothing but worsen the user experience.

@raze464 Thanks for your input.
What's the protocol for creating an Episode Group to order things as they were? I tried earlier and it appears it was overwritten by you. I went through the Episodes section of the contributing bible but there were only a couple mentions of episode groups and nothing specific on how to handle a "new order". For example
Seasons (TVDB)
,Seasons (IMDB)
, orSeasons (TVMAZE)
. Something that I imagine a lot of folks would appreciate. I imagine y'all are tired of these sorts of content issue threads and it seems that the episode groups are a middle ground.Reply by raze464

I added translated English overviews to the split segments. I had do to some copyediting since the Japanese to English translations are not 1:1 but I did the best I could.. Some character names and/or personal pronouns might be incorrect so please fix them if you encounter them.
I was moving the zh-CN episode titles again since they were recombined and saw an episode group using those same episodes. I assumed (incorrectly, it seems) that the group was created by the same person who recombined the zh-CN titles. My apologies.
It can be used for it but the episode group feature isn't really built for combining segments. It's more so for alternative orders. The only example I know of is the Episodes group for Looney Tunes Cartoons, but that seems to have been abandoned since it only covers the first season. I tried my best to recreate it here for this anime. If it's not really useful, let me know and I'll delete it.

Thanks for trying with that Episodes group, but it's not useful. I need it to be in a Seasons format, like what I previously created. I created a
Seasons (no parts)
group with just the even numbers which puts Season 1 back as it was.Reply by tmdb16716108

I don't think they are going to put it back as it was before. It's terrible the mania they have for screwing things up. The absurd rules of this site should change and adjust to reality. I recommend using TVDB, which doesn't have as many errors as TMDB and is much better.
