Children in Need is listed on a separate page on the BBC website. Consequently, it should be listed separately here in the movie section and not as a special of the show.
i added the special as ep 4 before making this discussion. if we want to split hairs and talk about seperate pages regarding what the BBC says we might want to look at the doctor who 2005 special eps. It makes no sense to me that because someone stupidly made the special a movie instead of adding to the series when everything for doctor who 2005 was put under specials. all I am asking is if we can make it episode 1 for specials because by air date, it is the first to come out for this new 2023 category for doctor who restarting.
However, I too am in favour of the Children in need Episode being categorised within the specials, as episode 1. That's how it's always been listed in the 2005 version and it would be good to continue in terms of continuity. This show seems to have a lot of Special episodes (with 199 different ones from 2005 to 2022) and for the argument of categorising and maintaining an accurate database, I think it should make much more sense to have it categorised all together. If we have heaps of small special episodes, each listed as "movies" that's going to be impossible to track and clearly identity each individual one. I believe that we should make use of the specials season to categorise these all together, as that makes sense.
I know there is some argument that it's been categorised differently by BBC and in its currently in its own category on the website, however I want to argue against this as they do refer to it as a Episode here and here. Likewise in the first URL you can see that it is referred to as a special.
I would also like to point out that The BBC are they're currently listing Specials as apart of the seasons, see Season 1 or even the most recent Season 13 (FLUX) with 9 episodes?. I personally disagree to this being the correct format seeing as they are special episodes, The BBC should still continue to categorise them that way. However, I just want to point out that clearly we don't always follow the same conventions as The BBC as they seem to be changing it up over time. In comparison see TMDB Doctor Who Season 1.
As the specials are only just releasing, I feel it's fine to modify the database right now without messing with heaps of API's / users data. And I would really like the plead the case to include it here within the new seasons specials.
@ben712 thank you for agreeing, this is exactly what I was trying to explain earlier. It was removed once again so I added it again. Now it is S00E05 because someone added the 2023 christmas special. Hopefully someone with power can agree with our statements and change the episode numbers to correspond with the air dates.
@FinnieBee yeah I agree, but I think for now we can't sadly really add the special until we get mod approval on the decision otherwise it'll just be a continuous back and forth, and at the end of the day it's the Mods that can decide how something works.
If there's any good reasons why it should be a standalone "movie" instead I'm open to listen, but I personally can't really understand considering it seems to go against how the 2005 Doctor Who was setup.
I'm not sure why this is the first time the CiN hasn't been apart of the specials, it seems like a strange choice. Under the specials for this verison is where it belongs
seems like @superboy97 got power hungry and stopped me from being able to make changes to the page. their power hungry over not wanting us to be right. would love to see some other mod's views on how the children in need special should be sorted!
The bible is fairly clear about this (emphasis added):
Web specials, OVAs and spin-off webseries (e.g. Flight 462) can also be added to the Specials. If the network creates a separate page for the spin-off webseries, a new show should be created instead of adding the episodes as specials.

Apparently someone added it as the 4th special now:

Can this be removed again in favour of the movie?

It should be listed as a movie, as it was released this way by the BBC.

The rule is not to do the same as Children in Need 2005, but to do the same way as the BBC do for the current Children in Need.

I'm also in favour of making the CiN special episode 1 of the Specials. It makes sense story wise and Born Again was also S00E01 of the 2005 Revival

You mention 3 different things here, web specials, OVAs and spin-off webseries, then only give an exception for spin-off webseries.
the CiN is a web special, not an OVA or a spin-off webseries. this alone should allow it to be put in the specials series.
