I agree. I have been trying to recommend it to a few of my friends, but for some reason they just haven't wanted to pick it up. The last sci-fi I really loved and got into was Fringe. Before that, BSG, which is more similar to The Expanse. The one friend that actually watched it gave it a 6/10. I think a lot of people think it's slow to pick up. However, I really love the political commentary of the situation between Mars/The Belt/Earth, and the intrigue of possible aliens and foreign substance? I'm in it for the long run. I also love how they try to get the science right. Makes it much more believable.
I've just started reading the first book.
Season 2 has been great, except for the fact I can't remember the details of what happened in Season 1! I'm hoping the book will help me remember the character names better and will provide me more insight.
BTW, Thanks Travis for these discussion boards :) Makes this refugee pretty happy. Rooting for its success!
I really like the show. I just got Sling TV and am watching it there now. I saw the first season previously and am glad to see it was picked up again
I've been seeing a lot of ads for Sling TV. It's like an online cable channel correct?
Years ago I rebelled, dropped DirectTV and started with Hulu. Now I have an AppleTV with Hulu, Netflix, iTunes Store and an Amazon Prime account. It's getting to the point I forget where all the shows are at.
Yeah, I run it through my Roku device but you can use others. It is a new service and is growing and adding content. It has limited on demand service at the moment. I am just trying it out now.

Best sci-fi in years?
I loved, LOVED, season 1 (haven't started season 2 yet). What do you guys think?
I cannot think of anything recent that could even begin to rival it. You'd have to go back to Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5 and Farscape for anything remotely "similar".
I love how detailed and well made the universe they created is, the politics, the slang, how this could be a possible future. All the small things, make sense and are well thought out. The plot and characters are great too, you care about them, so yes I have to agree with you, best scifi in a long long time.
I watched the four first episodes of season 2 but I'm thinking of stopping until all episodes are out so I can binge them. Waiting one week for each episode is a pain!

Well don't tell them about Mars they may go into a coma. I liked it though for whatever shortcomings.

I upgraded my Hulu to the no commercial option and am loving that. It seems we use that app the most since it plays the newest stuff.

Its so refreshing to see a new sci-fi TV that is actually worth relating to and investing time and energy on.

That's pretty much what I thought. Maybe I'll start up S2 tonight.

Definitely best since the Battlestar Galactica reboot ended.
