Lol yeah it was pretty bad. The only episodes from that season that I'm tempted to rewatch ever are two that Jetfire mentioned: Datalore and Conspiracy, and Where No One Has Gone Before.
Well you summed up the highlights perfectly Jet I 'd always Consider Conspiracy a great early episode which usually ends up pretty high in my favourite TNG episodes list.Because it was so dark, unsettling and with a heavy doses of paranoia.
Season 2 wasn't much better although it did introduce The Borg when they were at their most terrifying .
Yes, Ray. That was the info all us Trekkies bought for a while. Picard mentions them in "Encounter At Farpoint" as possibly being cannibals. Then we finally saw them. They were like parodies.
And how the Ferengi were portrayed. I heard that the plan was to make the Ferengi the main bad guys for the show....wow
Armin Shimerman portrayed Letek, one of the Ferengi in the TNG episode The Last Outpost, and IIRC he was reluctant to take on the role of Quark unless he was able to make some changes as to how the Ferengi were portrayed. Looks like he got his way, which is good.
Except for the exclusion of how they initially held and moved their limbs n their introductory episode (which offended some handicapped viewers), they did't really change all that much. Even in some serious situations, Quark and his brother were comedy relief. The Grand Nagus was a repulsive, insufferable little weasel. Most TNG fans consider them a miserable failure as a threatening race.

Yes, except for "Naked Now", "Heart Of Glory", "Skin Of Evil", "Datalore", "Conspiracy" and "Arsenal Of Freedom" it was pretty dismal.

Aw, come on, Moonglum. Don't you want to re-watch such winners as "Angel One", "Haven" or "A Matter Of Honor"?

As tempting as that sounds, I'm going to have to say no on those ones. I've had my fill of seeing Riker's chest hair on previous viewings.

It's a good thing Gene didn't get his way he wanted the Ferengi to have very visible large male genitalia.
