Kevin has brought the asshole persona full circle.
He was a little shit to Randall when they were kids. He was stuck up and full of himself as a teen. And, now we see that he still has maintained his asshole qualities as an adult while back at his old high school.
Way to go Kevin! SMH.

I always wanted to like Kevin- but never could. He is just an all around as s wipe. I realize he needs professional help dealing with all his issues- but dang -he has always been such a piece of
!
This Is Us always pulls at my heart strings and makes me
, last nights episode was the first time it didn't.
Well, my heart did hurt for Jack -I really hated the way Kevin treated his dad (d o n 't ever F with Milo Ventimiglia
)

I guess we know now why he has never really processed his father's death. He was such a dick to his dad...and then it seems like he died very shortly after.
I wanted Jack to pop Kevin upside his head when he spoke to his father so disrespectfully after the coach left. Kevin was beyond rude and obnoxious to the coach.
After that home visit, Kevin deserved to be treated the way Jack's father treated Jack.
Jack was just too good of a man and father for Kevin to have.
That knee injury was karma.

He sure was...originally thought Kevin was just a prick to only Randall (and he was so mean to Randall when they were younger) - now we are finding out he was like that to mostly everyone - he even screwed over that room mate he had. He does really seem to love Kate though- even though he is too selfish to be there when she really needs him.
Exactly. And Kevin was too busy drinking, stealing RX pads, and feeling sorry for himself to answer the calls about Kate's miscarriage -now he's going to really feel like dirt, maybe he will finally realize he needs to get his act together.

OMG! The "throw my roommate under the bus" and "sell my roommate out" move was so messed up.
The producer handled him perfectly. So did the roommate.

Yes. Kevin and Kate does have a special bond between them. It makes me wonder about two things:
If the biological triplet had survived...would Kevin be as close to him as he is to Kate?
Given the fact that Kevin is so self centered. I'm surprised that he wasn't a jerk to Kate as a result of her weight. Instead, he is loving, sweet and protective towards her.
Oh...he loves his nieces too. That's worth mentioning as well.

This episode was especially sad for me. I'm not sure why, maybe because we see him finally hit bottom.
I was struck by the earlier episode in which he screws over his roomie. In that episode we see the contrast of him acting very selfishly with his friend and also acting selflessly for his sister, giving up his candy so a boy would hold Kate's hand and make her happy.

There is definitely two distinct sides to Kevin.

i could not have said it better, LOL!!!!! What an arrogant dude. Growing up, he was not very nice at all, to Randall, though Randall kept on wanting a relationship. Seeing how condescending he was before the fellow came to talk to him regarding Football, I was floored. LOVED how Jack calmly said "get out of my sight". Do you think Sophie will take him back this time? I also think that the show rushed his addition. He spiraled quickly. Another thing...Was the young girl on the field a hallucination, and he ended up with the other woman whose cabinets he went through/left his necklace there? It seems when Kevin comes on, I want to get up and make a sandwich or something. The writers seem unsure as where to go with his character.

I think he nailed the coffin with Sophie.
The addiction is over the course of a year. You have to remember him telling Kate how long it's been since he got a gig and Sophie saying to him that it's been months regarding one excuse after another on his plans to move to the west coast.
The young girl on the football field was real. I was thinking...Kevin, don't go there!!! That girl will say you raped her. Even if it was consensual. She's probably under 18 and that makes it rape.
I was relieved when he ended up in bed with his former classmate.
I disagree about his character. He's right where he needs to be. The Jack thing and never truly addressing his behavior towards his dad and then his death. He's got a lot of guilt he needs to deal with.

Good question.
Yes, at first I totally expected Kevin to be a jerk to Kate, but even as a child he was always so concerned and protective of her feelings -i.e., giving that boy his Halloween candy to hold Kate's hand.
True. I think his great love for Kate and his nieces ( he is also great with the foster girl ) are the only reasons I don't totally despise him.

I have to say I was really disappointed when he reached out to Randall by showing up on his doorstep only to have the spotlight be on Kate and her miscarriage. For some reason, I'm down on Kate and Toby at this point (mostly Toby). Should be interesting to see how Kevin reveals why he is there .
I bet the season will end with Kevin going off to an extended rehab where, hopefully, he will be able to delve into his past and finally come to grips with his dad's death and other issues.
