Discuss Mission: Impossible

I got the inspiration for this game from two sources: the Star Trek message board and the season two episode The Council, when Frank Wayne's friend Jimmy tells the team that Frank is always bragging about what a great lover he is. The rules are as follows: post a line of dialogue that you'd have liked to been said on Classic Mission Impossible, but never was; and please don't write anything sexually explicit or with too much cursing.

Let's get this party started!

Daniel Briggs and/or Jim Phelps (talking to The Secretary on the phone): "Mr. Secretary, I choose not to accept the mission."

Bonjour, Agent 3H!

Voice on tape: "Your mission, Mr. Phelps, is to get Agent Armitrage a date for Valentine's Day because he's very upset that he never gets a love interest during any of the IMF's missions."

Voice on tape: Mr Phelps the photos you are viewing are that of your fellow IMF agents. The Secretary is getting heavy pressure from Division Seven to diversify your team. We know your team already includes a female and an African-American, but there is coming a time when that will not be enough and Division Seven would like to be ahead of the curve. So because of budgetary cutbacks your mission Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to convince either Barney or Cinnamon to switch teams (if you know what I mean) so we can check off two boxes with one agent. And also to ask Rollin to play Miguel Cordova on a more permanent basis. As always, should you or any of your IM force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions.

@HarrisonHanksHackman sunglasses But 3H, Miguel Cordova was an evil dictator! However, we could use guest agent Elena from season one's episode Elena or Carlos from season one's Odds On Evil as our Latino member of the team. Of course the actor who played Carlos was Greek, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. And NO ONE IS SWITCHING TEAMS.

Plus I'm sure real life Rollin doesn't want real life Cinnamon to switch teams wink

It was my impression that Willy had a satisfying enough domestic life that having a love interest would be inappropriate.

(I’d say steroids killed his libido, but he’s too calm and self assured to be like some of the ‘roid users I’ve encountered in the gym.)

@sukhisoo wink Well, I posted that because Willie's so nice that I thought he always deserved an episode where he met a nice girl, etc. But since the audience knew so little about the characters off-duty lives, you may have a point.

BTW, a few months ago I met a man who worked on the set of Classic Mission Impossible (he handled the lights). He said Peter Graves and Peter Lupus were very nice but Martin Landau was very moody.

Yeah, the show is usually more about the mission than about the personal lives of our heroes.

Interesting info on the temperaments of the actors. It kind of makes sense that Martin Landau was moody. His characters displayed the widest emotional ranges. Rollin had to take on the personae of a huge variety of critters. So Landau played high strung, low key, domineering, meek, joyful, surly, etc. He was convincing in all roles. He must have had a rich emotional well to draw from.

Yes. I remember how creepy he was in North by Northwest, and how great he was in Cleopatra.

Voice on tape- Jim your mission is to try and find something that plays a thumb drive which we will be sending you from now on.

Jim (to himself after listening to the above message): "I thought we transitioned to the Cloud?"

Jim (after finding out that Dana Lambert will be the new team Femme Fatale): "Are you serious, Mr. Secretary? Dana's so young it's going to look like Take Your Daughter To Spy With You Day on every mission."

Voice on tape - Jim we know you are wondering about cloud storage for these messages, but ever since the Russian hack and the photos of Cinnamon in various states of undress (some with a female companion) were posted to something called The WEB, we have decided to go with self-destructing thumb drives.

@HarrisonHanksHackman: One of the rules of this game is please don't write anything sexually explicit.

LOL, are you serious? That was sexually explicit? Are you Amish? Please tell me you were joking.

@HarrisonHanksHackman sunglasses First of all, I'm Episcopalian. Second, while on second thought I may have overreacted a little bit, the reason I got a little creeped out was because when I participated in this version of the game on the TMDB Star Trek TOS board, one of the posters started getting VERY sexually explicit. It made me personally very uncomfortable. So I don't post there anymore. We love you here at the Mission Impossible Board (you're very funny), and please keep posting. I hope my explaination explains my response. Thank you.
