Well they have lost me! I will not pay to watch. I think Seth will regret it!

Nah, I'm not going to waste my time doing all that. IF it ever airs on regular T.V. (meaning cable/satellite) I'll watch it that way.
Thanks though.
Maybe I'll get lucky. I vacation in another country periodically and subscribe to a satellite service there. It records The Orville for me when it comes on. Maybe they'll get it still on their service because I don't think Hulu is available there.

You absolutely can watch Hulu on your TV you can get a perfectly good smart TV for under $200....... Frankly I can't see why anyone with any sense would want to have cable why pay $150 a month for about two channels 95% of what you never watch when you could get all the TV you ever want every show you want to see for $12 a month? it makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever why you buddy would still have cable in 2020

For many people - just about ALL people, in some markets - "cable" is (also) their internet service.
And sometimes you're not even allowed to get cable internet service, which may be your ONLY way to get internet, unless you agree to TV service too.

Only a die hard fan who already has Hulu is going over. I can't see signing up for just one show is going to happen for the casual viewer in enough numbers.

I signed up for Hulu last November because I got a great deal, $1.99 a month for one year. They have a bunch of TV shows that I wanted to see & some I wanted to rewatch. I can watch movies (ads before the movies) & TV shows with a couple of short ads (2 or 3 depending on the length of the show) all for $1.99 a month. Which is a pretty good deal.

You guys seem unaware that network TV is dying.
Just look at the Emmys or the Golden Globes. All the awards were won by shows on streaming services, with network shows not even nominated.
All the most popular and buzzworthy shows are on streaming services. When people stand around talking about TV, they talk about streaming shows "did you see the last episode of The Mandalorian?'. "Have you seen the most recent episode of The Crown?"
Clinging to network TV is like the last few stragglers refusing to leave MySpace or AOL. Or clinging to to our old rotary landline phone when everyone else has cellular.
The fact of the matter is that The Orville, just like most network shows these days, got 10 times as many viewers on Hulu than watched the live broadcast. Given that the overwhelming majority of viewers were already watching in Hulu anyway, giving up on the dying platform if network just makes sense.

oh well let's all of us cable subscribers give it up because of autoexec's opinion. I could give a shyt what shows won awards, I like what I like and I have what I like. I don't care what everyone else has...AND I have a cell and a landline ( you'd be surprised how many friends have asked to use it when their shyt cells have died) You aren't paying for it so why you so pressed dude? You work for Hulu?

Hello Invidia
(I don't post much here anymore, but I know you know I still read and like
some of your posts)
I also have Amazon Prime where I watch series and movies and hook the HDMI cable to my 58" TV.
I actually like cable, where I watch On Demand, also have Showtime, HBO and Cinemax.
I am not going to get Hulu ( seriously don't care if it was only $1.00) just to watch The Orville, I liked it but it is NOT the greatest series I have ever liked or seen.

I don't know what all the changes are but I did have a 'sneak peek' at one change (the overall look, fonts, colors, etc.) & I will tell you I wasn't impressed.

According to rumours Seth and NBC/Universal made an offer to buy Star Trek from CBS.

Do you suppose Seth would want to produce a new, GOOD, Star Trek show at the same time as The Orville?

They would have to be complete morons to sell.

In many countries such content are still to expensive to have a lot of subscription. Most often one-two distributor buy most popular shows, translate it and we got almost everything worthwhile in one source. The rest downloading from the torrent (but it a bit hemorrhoid nowadays, hah).
Compared to StarTrek Discovery I'm ready to pay local provider for watch Orville on my device. CBS not worth to be downloaded for free.

Well it seems they still are seriously considering it to sell it.For Viacom/CBS it would be the easiest way to get rid of Kurtzman/Secret Hideout and Abrams/Bad Robot because they absolutely loathe what those two have done to the Trek franchise the contract with Abrams has already transpired but the Kurtzman/Secret Hideout with the 25% different alternate liscense(2009-...) is still in effect and as long as they produce content under that alternate liscense Viacom/CBS which also includes Paramount can't make any Star Trek under the original liscense(1966-2005)which is what Trek fans and Viacom/CBS actually want. And since everything Trek related Kurtzman and Secret Hideout have done so far has only cost them money and has alienated a large part of the fanbase(who are responsible for bringing a large chunk of the profits because it is them who buy the merchandise)who now have drifted towards The Orville.
