The only reason Janeway got to know her crew as well as she did was because she had no choice. They were all stranded in another galaxy/quadrant and had to find a way back home. Archer and his crew on the other hand, were meant to be together for a long time from the beginning.

Also, Janeway wasn't the only one who took time for "lost sheep." Don't forget LaForge and Barclay (one of my favorite characters, btw). It was at Picard's insistence, yes, but Barclay was DEFINITELY a lost sheep. And once LaForge got past his own issues with Barclay, he was able to see things from Barclay's point of view and in some ways they really weren't so different (Barclay had issues relating to everyone, and LaForge had issues relating to women), and was eventually able to get Barclay to become a better officer, and Troi helped also, through counseling. So they worked together as a crew to help other crew members. Janeway's crew didn't have a counselor, and so that role fell to her when necessary.

Anyway, I enjoyed Enterprise while it lasted, and I was rather sad when it was eventually cancelled. So, if MacFarlane was able to acquire the rights to Star Trek, it would be a good thing. As others have said, perhaps the entire series could be brought back to normal. I stopped watching the series after Nemesis. Altering Roddenberry's timeline was the absolute worst thing that could have ever been done. As to the Picard show, I'd give it a chance if I could, but it doesn't air on Satellite, so...

I think you're better off acting as if Discovery, Picard, and anything else those fools come out with, doesn't exist.

The "reboot" movies are awful travesties too.

Is Discovery the one they aired ONE episode of on the regular CBS channel a year or so ago? I was so bored and confused by it. It took me almost the entire episode to understand that those lizard things were their idea of Klingons. WTF!?

Maybe you can, and good for you, but no, I can't. It doesn't work that way. I can watch T.V. on my T.V., but I cannot watch anything from the Internet. I can use my computer for the Internet, but that is not the way I want to watch T.V. I keep my T.V. running in the background while I play games on the Net or write, or whatever on my computer, so I don't want to have a TELEVISION program running on my computer that I can hear but can't see because I'm in another tab doing something else. When I have my T.V. on, I can just look up and see the screen when something catches my interest.

There are other options. If your current TV isn't capable of doing Netflix or Hulu etc on its own, and if you don't want - or can't afford - to get another TV that can, it would be less expensive to get a blu-ray player that is capable of Netflix/Hulu/etc, or something like an hdmi "stick" player that can.

Huh? I'm not a tech person, so I really have no idea what you just said. I have a DVD blu-ray thing but it only plays DVDs. That's it. And I'm not paying extra for something like Netflix or Hulu or whatever when I already subscribe to Satellite. Let them bring it where it belongs, on a satellite channel. I pay enough money. I'm not paying more.

Fair enough. My point was really just that watching Hulu or Netflix etc on your computer is not the only option, nor does it require buying a new TV that has Netlix/Hulu/etc built-in. There are simpler and less-expensive options available.

I seem to recall they actually showed the first two or three episodes on broadcast CBS, but I could be mis-remembering. Myself, I just downloaded all of them - the first two seasons, over time - for free, and without any commercials. And I made DVDs for my oldest brother who wanted to see them before they were available on Netflix, which he uses a lot. He even still gets DVDs from them sometimes, for things that they don't offer online. (I suppose there are fewer of those all the time, but apparently it still happens.)

It started out with some promise, although there were immediate problems such as their "old" ships were still way more advanced than NCC-1701 which was supposed to be coming 10 years LATER. (Although at the time of Discovery's start, Pike would have already been to Talos IV etc, since that happened 13 years before TOS, about the same time Lt Kirk was on the A Private Little War planet with his friend Tyree...)

The Enterprise series, despite its other problems, showed they could portray a more-primitive-than-1701 ship using more modern effects than were available in 1966, so there's really no reason why Discovery couldn't have done the same. And that first ship we see, the Shenzhou, was supposed to be "old" already at that point. In fact it was already "old" when Michael Burnham first came aboard with Sarek something like 10 years before THAT.

And it looked to me like Shenzhou had an android officer/crewman already too, when "everybody knows" that Data was the first.

Plus what they did with the "Klingons" was just awful.

And it just got worse from there...

Season 1 of STD is now airing on regular CBS and there are 3 more entire seasons to get confused about. 😆 Have tried using the HDMI connection of your computer to connect to the HDMI of your TV

Maybe I should explain a little better. I'm a woman in my 40s. I have a landline. I have T.V. and I have Internet. I am not keen on technology. When I had my house remodeled, I had a local electronics company come out to hook up the T.V.s, etc. So whatever they did is what I have, and I have no idea what that is. I just turn my T.V. on, and I watch T.V. And I have satellite, and whenever that goes out for longer than an hour and it's not weather related, I call up the satellite company and bitch at them. Because since I pay for their service, when it breaks down, IMO, they need to fix it.

Anyway, when I was looking stuff up on the search function of my T.V., I found that the first two seasons of Discovery were available. I started downloading them and stopped. I decided that since I hated the one episode I did already see, what was the point of downloading from the beginning to watch something I couldn't stomach due to all the changes they (wrongly) made in the ST Universe?

As to The Orville, I'm still hoping they come to their senses and return to regular T.V.
