Look. In one dull ep (aren't they very much all?) I was forced to watch because family was watching-the completely unbearable Cap. Picard was supposed to make a bunch of planet natives believe again in some religion. Picard is merely scripted to say how the planet natives have progressed a great deal in no longer believing in deities and getting them to any religion again would be a step backward for them. In real life it is not true that getting folks away from the Bible would be making them more modern. The Bible has tremendous scientific accuracy. Why do you have to leave a book that shows the Earth is round and hangs on nothing? Why quit a book that shows how clouds give rain? Why give up on a book that shows how reptiles lived before man (Septuagint Version of Genesis)? Why lose literal faith in a book showing that man is from soil or mud (he is!!!)? The Bible writers could not have figured all this and more out by themselves--they had to have very special help. Our future is to contain more faith in the BIble and more in God --not getting away from it! (The universe needs a creator anyway--could not have made itself from nothing!)
Ray Comfort authored a great book, back around 2001, about scientific facts in the Holy Bible. Here is the link (it is long to write):
(Comfort's book is called "Scientific facts in the Bible" in case you do not click on the link.)

If I may say so. I did you all an immense favor by pointing out above about the reptiles being created on Day 5 in the Bible (man on Day 6) because most great Bible is scientifically accurate books (like Comfort's if I remember correctly) miss that one. And that is one of the best points!!!!

I am not knocking Comfort's work. It is an excellent work but for some reason they all usually miss that one.

There is so much amazing scientific accuracy in the Bible.

Again, the fact about the dinosaurs (as reptiles) mentioned in Genesis One (Septuagint) shows accuracy of a scientific kind and is rarely mentioned elsewhere.

Read the Bible and find the great scientific accuracy everywhere in it.

Bible accuracy of a scientific nature is in large quality in the Good Book.

Really mate promoting a book on the "science" of the Bible on the site of a SF franchise that has been known always to promote rational thought and (factual) science above religion seems a lost cause to me. Sorry but your preaching for the wrong parish here man.

Really mate. Deciding it more rational to believe our universe just created itself out of nothing, rather than a being outside of nature as we understand it being the creator, makes no sense. And it is not progress to believe that universe made itself somehow out of nothing. This badly written, lamentably dull series has a worse problem than just being so dull even in still pictures of it it looks yawnable. It gave a totally false message about progress!

The much better Star Trek:TOS had an ep where Kirk met a 5000+ year old space alien who claimed to be Olympian Greek deity Apollo. A Trekkie complained how in a later ep, called 'Of Bread and Circuses', Kirk meets a group of humanoids who believe in such gods like Apollo. They wanted to know why Kirk was not scripted to tell the humanoids that their pagan gods were just ancient space aliens. First of all the Prime Directive. Next off, Kirk only less than half found the story of religion because he never found the basis for Jesus Christ. Kirk only discovered the basis of the mythical Olympian deities and it is possible that Kirk believed in a creator. In fact Kirk did for he told Apollo how Kirk's people found the one God sufficient! Kirk was better written than Picard!

-Now in real life we have the Holy Bible of scientific facts like round Earth hanging on nothing, and a ton more scientific facts, we cannot reconcile as anything but something from God. Aliens from outer space are not actually a credible explanation and even if one in a zillion chance they're real they too would need a creator.

If that is your set of believes that is fine by me but don't try to convert me because that is not going to happen. For me science can explain the world and universe quite well thank you. And through my education I have an above average understanding of of maths, physics, chemistry, biology and genetics which for me provide all the answers I need to explain my surroundings and the universe(or should I say universes, since the whole concept of multiverses has become more and more accepted among scientists)that I don't need the aide of white bearded deity to explain my world. As for the universe it wasn't just simply created out of nothing and is a very oversimplified summary of what actually happened prior to and after the Big Bang because that deals with a degree of a very theoretical and a very advanced kind of mathematics and (particle)physics that only a very few scientist in the world understand and can explain. And since I believe that most Trek fans share a similar mindset on this topic I won't think you'll find many of them who would agree with you in fact a lot of Trekkies have been inspired by Star Trek to choose to pursue a profession in science rather than affiliate themselves with a religious group. So you trying to convert them to your set of believes is like the antelope trying to convince the lion to become a vegetarian.
And FYI Kirk is the last person to believe in (a) God as he of all the crew is the most sceptic about the existence of a God in The Final Frontier hence the "What does God need with a Star ship? " and Kirk 's remark about the one God being quite sufficient was done to illustrate that we already had enough troubles and conflicts with the one God that Human society had no need for a couple of more deities. And he also told Apollo humans have outgrown the believe in God(s) and have outgrown the worshipping of deities and that we have no use for them. The fact that Kirk doesn't interfere with the uprising of religion in Bread and Circuses has to do with the Prime Directive since the religious aspects of that society already were present before Kirk & co arrived on that planet it already was a part of the (natural) evolution of that planet so suppressing it would be in direct violation of the Prime Directive. as for Picard in the episode Who watches The Watchers ,if he hadn't intervened his presence would have been the foundation of a religion that wasn't present prior to their arrival on the planet so that would have been considered an intervention by Starfleet in the natural evolution of the planet and that species and is again in violation of the Prime Directive.
